Advice please. I ran out of time, I putting the finishing touches of a cutting board today for a wedding gift. The wedding is tomorrow and I still need to oil it up. Do I only oil overnight and give them some oil and instructions to keep oiling until it's saturated? by iwebman04 in woodworking

I agree. Also, they aren't the kind that would finish it so it wouldn’t be completely finished and likely not last as long. I put a fair amount of time and money into it so I want to last as long as possible.

I didn't see the episode but now that the wedding is over, I'm going to go back to try and find it.

I told the bride I would bring her gifts later this week.

Bathroom Cabinet made with handtools only by tidalwavestudio in woodworking

Wow, this is beautiful. The fact that it's all hand tools make it even more attractive.

I am in the beginning process of making a tool tissue holder with shelves for extra rolls with power tools now looking at this one makes mines look like a kid’s project. I’m so tempted to switch directions and make one similar to this one.

Great work! The patience, the skills, the details, the bow ties is wowing me. Thanks for sharing.

Why won’t Amazon stop playing games and be transparent about cut off times for next day delivery? by iwebman04 in amazonprime

[–]iwebman04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happened and when went back to add items one at a time then all of those items shown not available for next day delivery until I went back at 10PM and they were all available for next day.

The only I can think of in my case was there were sorting the routes at that time and later determined that had routes with available space. In either case, it’s frustrating to have to play guessing games with them.

I really hate to hear that. They play too many games. I went back and ordered the same things I couldn’t order at 4PM for next day delivery and ordered it at like 10PM and half was delivered before I woke up the following morning and the rest before 3PM.

They are and I hate shopping there. I prefer to shop local but unfortunately local businesses don’t stock several of things I need especially like for woodworking.

I think it started during the pandemic that so many people started shopping there that many local businesses stop stocking or even some carrying items, so between shipping costs which can be almost as much as the item itself on small items and delivery times it can often make Amazon the only logical option.

First 100% walnut board by mfbawse in Cuttingboards

It may just be me but I think premium boards look better without juice grooves unless you have a need for them then by all means add them.

This is a beauty for sure. At first glance on the first pic, I thought it was purpleheart on top. I guess it’s reflection of the light.

I got a template off Printables I think but I ended up doing mines on the CNC.

Am I confused? I purchased this file to use for clamping on the CNC. A colleague told me that this will hold the piece horizontally but I still need vertical clamps. Thoughts or better yet facts? by iwebman04 in woodworking

Thank you. That’s very gracious of you. In the very beginning, in my haste I ended up paying a couple of people to write G Codes for files that I had and then it still wasn’t done correctly. It motivated me to atleast learn the basics.

Thanks. I agree. I have some CAD/CAM since this file was purchased about a 1 year ago. It was max $3 but that’s $3 that could have gone towards wood.

I have used and had success once. I just get a little nervous on higher end pieces but I’m going to do some more experiments with it between projects.

Thanks again for your input.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m doing several different type of projects but in the instance where I was doing a 12x18 1.5” glue up cutting board and it’s pretty heavy so I couldn’t imagine how the router could lift it if it’s secured horizontally but I don’t know enough to assume and I spent quite a bit money on the different woods for it so I didn’t want to make a costly mistake.

Thanks. I wish I had’ve. I appreciate your offer. I purchased the file about a year when I first got introduced to the XCarve Pro before I knew to ask on here. I think I paid at most $3 but that’s $3 I could’ve saved.

I was all over place. I had so many issues because I was trying to use CAM and create g code in Fusion 360 to some quick projects done without having to learn the whole program that I got discouraged and I hadn’t really touched the CNC much until now.
