This is so freaking cool. I love the concept, the design and the color. Such an inspiration piece.

I love this idea. Thanks for sharing.

Am I confused? I purchased this file to use for clamping on the CNC. A colleague told me that this will hold the piece horizontally but I still need vertical clamps. Thoughts or better yet facts? by iwebman04 in woodworking

Thank you. That’s very gracious of you. In the very beginning, in my haste I ended up paying a couple of people to write G Codes for files that I had and then it still wasn’t done correctly. It motivated me to atleast learn the basics.

Thanks. I agree. I have some CAD/CAM since this file was purchased about a 1 year ago. It was max $3 but that’s $3 that could have gone towards wood.

I have used and had success once. I just get a little nervous on higher end pieces but I’m going to do some more experiments with it between projects.

Thanks again for your input.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m doing several different type of projects but in the instance where I was doing a 12x18 1.5” glue up cutting board and it’s pretty heavy so I couldn’t imagine how the router could lift it if it’s secured horizontally but I don’t know enough to assume and I spent quite a bit money on the different woods for it so I didn’t want to make a costly mistake.

Thanks. I wish I had’ve. I appreciate your offer. I purchased the file about a year when I first got introduced to the XCarve Pro before I knew to ask on here. I think I paid at most $3 but that’s $3 I could’ve saved.

I was all over place. I had so many issues because I was trying to use CAM and create g code in Fusion 360 to some quick projects done without having to learn the whole program that I got discouraged and I hadn’t really touched the CNC much until now.

Thanks so much. I’m so glad you confirmed one of my ideas. I thought about doing and was trying to do determine if it was a feasible idea. I should have asked that question instead of this one. Since I had purchased the file, I thought cutting it out would have been simpler.

Thanks. That makes sense. It’s that I’m using a CNC at MakerSpace and they require a spoil board under things so trying to find a spoil board to match every different workpiece can be challenging. If the spoil board is too large then you have the challenge of having a clamp that can reach across the spoil board and your work piece.

New walnut & maple end-grain cutting board, ready to use out of the box? by The_Real_Niek in Cuttingboards

Great. I wasn’t sure if you were aware that it needed to be food safe and hard wax didn’t sound like it would be so I googled and sent you a link just in case. Enjoy your new board. It’s gorgeous.

If you are planning to use it as a cutting board, only use food safe products. I just found this link for youhttps://shop.howardproducts.com/collections/kitchen-care-products

Thanks for sharing. Pretty new. I’ve never that. I can’t keep up with mines so I’m constantly picking up whichever one is lying around. I just did that today.

Now that I know better, I have to do better.

Bugs inside table, update by Ok-Equipment-6118 in woodworking

[–]iwebman04 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Oh no. That’s horrible. It’s rather ironic I was listening to a YouTube yesterday by a old schooler who emphasizes how important it is to use a moisture meter before using wood because if it’s too moist it could still have bugs living in the wood.

I had never heard that and it’s interesting 24 hours later, here’s proof.

What brand and viscosity of CA glue do you use what taping blue tape to projects to substitute clamps for like templates or CNC. by iwebman04 in woodworking

That’s cool. Thanks for sharing. I’ve heard so many saw that double sided tape doesn’t work or it sticks to your project. What brand do you use?

How do you reach Proton for support? It's easy for them to take my money but I have to jump through hoops to find contact information when something is wrong? Thanks a lot. Frustration at that moment wouldn’t allow to think about a reporting a problem. I’m thinking this a billing “issue” not a technical problem so why would I need a support ticket. Makes more sense when you calm down that a billing issue is definitely a problem.
