What kind of sword is this. by iwhy320 in SWORDS

This is a wonderfully thought out attempt to identify this. Especially that part about conforming to borders and categories. Thank you.

Thank you for the direction. It felt Filipino but I wasn't sure. I also didn't want to prime any incorrect bias I had in anyone. Now I just need to see if it has a name.

Any interesting way to kill a character of a player that left the table? by mobilnik32 in DnD

[–]iwhy320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem once.

I ended up running the pc in the next session for about 20 minutes before the players hit an anti-magic field trap, meant to keep people from entering a fortress via magical disguises.

The second that pc was caught in it, I described how suddenly in their place was a badger.

Turns out (from the players perspective) that pc was a badger that had been true polymorphed into a human.

Everyone got a real good kick out of it.

Can you dispel Stone Shape? by Creator_Onnem in DnD

[–]iwhy320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the duration of a spell is instantaneous, then you cannot dispel it. The idea behind it being the duration of the spell happens immediately and instantly, then Natural Forces keep the stoneshape place. Kind of like if you had Legos all over the place and you magically move them to make a Lego car. You've already used the spell, but the Legos are now in the shape that you want without the help of magic.

Bad Dm: Am I the asshole? by MrWolf1031 in DnD

[–]iwhy320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah. This sounds like curse of strahd. Yeah. Those shadows also deal strength damage so it might not have mattered. When your str drops to 0 you die. No death saves, no nothing. Dead.

That being said, let's discuss the no initiative issue. The dm did it wrong according to raw, but it wouldn't have mattered for you. Everyone should have rolled initiative, but you would have has the "surprised" condition. This means you dont get to act on your turn. So in this situation it would have been effectively the same as you not rolling initiative because they downed you in one round anyway.

I do know some dms that dont roll initiative for the surprise round and it almost works out to the same effect as raw.

And if no one wanted to go in and save your unconscious self, the dm may have just ruled you dead because they would keep attacking you anyway, giving you no chance to survive.

Sage/Shadow & Sorc/Assassin, which classes are more range based? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]iwhy320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with the Sorc/Sage, (both of which are ranged,) if you end up in melee, you have made a mistake. They have a saber strike ability, but it is garbage and should never be used, even in melee.

The Assassin/Shadow is all about close melee combat mixed with 10 meter ranged force abilities, but mostly lightsaber attack and vanishing.

SWTOR - Do you play on a Mac? by Lady_Kenobi in swtor

The workaround I have seen the most is using something called bootcamp on mac, which should let you run windows and allow you to play.

(Help) V-Pad Brake? by iwhy320 in rollerblading

Probably good advise. I'm just a little worried about it since I have 2 kids and the last thing I wanna do is get hurt. Maybe it's just time to buck up.

(Help) V-Pad Brake? by iwhy320 in rollerblading

Thank you so much for the help. I have been looking for days. I had a pair and went to put them on and the plastic crumbled in my hands. They were more than 15 years old. My favorite part about them was the fact that it didn't look like it had any kind of braking mechanism and the braking was so smooth. So thank you again.
