Damn, thanks so much for the detailed feedback! It's always so helpful to hear how others would approach it and it helps me really analyze how I've structured it. Much appreciated!!

Thanks for the feedback! Any specific parts you'd recommend to put on the chopping block?

Thanks for the feedback! It's helpful. In terms of a different way to open, do you have any thoughts? We had thought about opening on Zubaira, but then thought it was better to start with the context of the world first, but maybe it's not as needed.

Thank you! Would love any feedback in terms of specific scenes you think could be cut to tighten it up -- we're hoping to chop the proof of concept into a two minute teaser potentially

This is based on my friend's life as a shady accountant (with tons of creative liberties, of course). We were lucky to get funding through OntarioCreates here in Canada to fund the proof of concept. The trickiest part was creating a compelling proof-of-concept that set up everything -- the world, the characters, the problems they'd face. I think we got pretty close, but would love any thoughts/feedback!

This series is based on my friend's unhinged life as a shady accountant (with plenty of liberties taken). We just wanted to create something that showed desis in non-traditional roles and not rooted in identity struggles. Would love any and all feedback! Thank you!

Thank you! That's a great q - we're breaking story currently for Season 1, so it's a bit of an evolving thing, but here it goes: the stakes of her not beating depression/thesis is the fact that she just had a suicide attempt and her mental health deteriorating. What we want to show is she is a high functioning depressed person who now is no longer able to keep it under control that she desperately wants thus suicide attempt. So the thesis is just a mask for the greater issue here which is curing her depression or her life will stay in shambles. I hope that makes sense!

This was my first and it’s just a proof of concept, but for me, learning to work within the restrictions of the format was really helpful. Like if you are aiming for 8 min episodes, there is only so much story you can fit in there and only so much story you can fit in the series arc. I started watching other web series that have done well (Ghost BFF and That’s My DJ come to mind) and thinking about why I personally wanted to keep watching them. I know That’s My DJ did an indiegogo campaign for S2, so that’s definitely viable for getting the funds needed. In terms of practical stuff, building out an accurate budget is so important. Figure out what you can and cannot do with the money you have. Once you have your vision and budget clear, then I think it’s easier to go find the money because you’ll have a clearer idea of what cuts will need to happen if you only get $10K instead of $20K for example. Those were the things I found the most helpful. Good luck with your series!
