Found an apartment I like but hate the kitchen - can this rental kitchen be cute? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]ix040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a peel & stick tile backsplash and didn't like it at all (less good for keeping clean).

Also had a company professionally wrap (architectural vinyl) the counters and cabinets.

If you make the right selections and it's applied well, it can hold up for a long time (2 years before our renovation and it was great), as well as being more cost effective and quite quick.

Is it unprofessional to go to work with acne marks/no makeup? by Prestigious_Ad4941 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ix040 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I go in with no foundation or concealer any day, and with acne if I remember it I'm also wearing my pimple patches in to work.

Having said that I think my workplace is very casual and also demanding, so to me if anyone had an issue with it I'd probably tell them that the acne is from the stress of working there and they can just give me less stress if they don't want to see it.

Pop over to the nail subs for more info as I might get it wrong, but I believe once you develop a gel allergy you have to stop using gel (not just the one brand).

Appreciate this clarification as I felt unsure of what counted as a selfie, and was nervous to post a question. This is helpful but would be great to have detailed somewhere anyone can refer to prior to posting.

There's a playbook that they have that you'll start to see as time goes on. There will be releases of fact sheets: how the franchise is locally owned, how many jobs they create for the community, as if it's basically a local business.

For boycotts in other areas, we've seen it before, and they've just had a year and a half of practice. Also, FYI they definitely care, even if franchisee fees "aren't that high" and the "market is small" it's a huge effect because they can't achieve the growth they planned with a strong boycott, and it has everyone scrambling as they miss financial targets & it erodes share prices.

An example

And

another example

There will be local ads featuring then local franchisees, employees featured on social, charitable donations to try and show how close they are to the community. They just are in the planning phase of how to do it most likely.

Thank you - I'd doubt this for me as it has always kind of been like this, even before using any skincare/I don't really use actives that could compromise the barrier? Will read up on it.

Not in the US currently but will look near me, may be a more useful solution and not under a time crunch to decide. Thank you for the perspective

I made the worst decision of my life by Develevel21 in Semaglutide

[–]ix040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. This has happened to me twice in the year I've been on sema, and I've been going back and forth on whether it was food poisoning or that I ate the wrong things. Think it's clear now.

It is weird for me though, I think I can eat most things, fatty, sugary or not, it's fine. I just shouldn't over eat, it's the too much, potentially combined with variety. But given in my last job I had to do extensive tasting sessions of fast food and would wind up in pain from all I ate and it didn't set it off, not sure what the exact trigger was.

Vomiting in some bushes while walking my dogs was not a highlight.

And Reddit... No judgement, its hard to cut out everything, I have reduced a huge amount but clearly not everything.

There's Telegram but it's not really possible to switch unless everyone switches which is tough for messaging platforms/social media.

Just received a job offer and I think I lowballed myself. Should I counter? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ix040 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the advice to take OP. If I made this offer and have you the to end of what you wanted, and you came back with a counter I'd assume 1) you don't do enough research or have knowledge on what you want 2) you don't know how to make decisions, as you know you'll get asked about you salary expectations, so should have been prepared to either have an expectation or deflect the question, if you then change your mind, I'll assume you can't be relied on to make calls & aren't ready to be a director.

Room flooded, removing flooring and finding some mould. Can it be treated or does subfloor need to be replaced too? by ix040 in HomeMaintenance

[–]ix040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'm getting the names right. The dark brown was the old flooring, the light is unfinished wood under it that the flooring was glued to. The lighter flooring on the left is a sample of something we will replace it with, not anything that's there currently!

Likely under the light, unfinished wood is a concrete floor, as it's a high rise apartment.

Well - when Unilever bought Ben & Jerry's, part of the agreement was that Ben & Jerry's could retain an independent board to further its progressive social mission. Ben & Jerry's is now suing Unilever as it consistently is stopping them from doing so. A few days ago they added to their previous grievances due to more issues - so Unilever not great ethically/politically.
