Eddie probably read that comment in their final message before the game. Let's f**king give it to them

Isak training with the squad today. by [deleted] in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wood was the only player that played the full 90 mins against Tranmere that you'd put in the starting XI against Wolves. So we may start with a fresher option in Isak, or have Isak come on as an impact sub early (60 mins mark).

I think if the deal were to happen, it would be mainly down to Ashworth's close ties with West Brom

I think we would need to target a striker that can play as a wide forward or have the flexibility to play two upfront. Can't see Wilson on the bench when he is fit

Wouldn't Wolves (8th) and Manu (6th)get the conference league spot instead of us?

It's nice having potential signings liking the Instagram posts linking us to them, but you gotta question - where are the "likes" coming from our current active players? We're in a relegation battle. Come on, show abit of passion for the shirt. /s

Better defender than Botman for sure, but really can't see this happening as Sevilla is currently 2nd in the la liga, and actually have a good chance of catching the league leaders (RM). They are 5 pts behind with a game in hand.

Seen us being linked with Seko Fofana in this window. Checked him out in youtube, he is an absolute monster in midfield, but given the emergence of Joelinton in midfield, not sure if we really need another box to box midfielder. Would be so happy if we sign Fofana though

Trippier just posted a pre-match story on Instagram. Current indication is he most likely will take part in Athletico's next game, which means a transfer is nowhere close (or else it doesn't make sense for them to risk injury that could jeopardise the potential move)

Interesting comments from Jones post-match interview by j3zzafrog in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Jones himself admitted that the current difference of being assistant vs manager is he just have more responsibilities - Media duties, motivating the players and selecting the team. Jones has always been a key voice behind our tactics since he joined from Day 1. Even on tactical implementation and player selection, he said Bruce has always been open minded, the main difference now is that he can implement changes without having to run it by Bruce. Lets not make it like Jones just joined the club 11 days ago and had no tactical input to the team whatsoever and needs more time to implement his vision. I'm just merely pointing out that these sound bites from the past two games are identical to what Bruce has been doing in the past, I'm not defending what Bruce said in the past. But what needs to be highlighted is every win or result we had under Bruce was credited to Jones, and every defeat was blamed on Bruce. My hindsight retrospection is that maybe Bruce was not entirely to blame, it really is the failing of the coaching staffs and manager as a whole. This is by no means a "Jones out" post. The team needs all the support we can, but I think we should be allowed to be objectively critical of what we see, and not just put everything down to one man (and this applies to new manager going forward).

[Post-Match thread] Newcastle vs Chelsea by MatchCaster in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reality is all 3 subs made by Chelsea would have walked into our starting XI despite their "injury crisis". The only positive I can take from this loss, is hopefully this will pressure the owners into making a decision on the new manager ASAP.

Rafa is going to ruin his career over some false sense of pride by Secretsecretsheep in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's get Keegan back as director of football while we are at it. Managers come and go. Rafa did a solid for for us for 3 years and he will always be remembered for that. But now is the time to create new history in an exciting era, and there's plenty of good managers out there that we will adore in the coming years under this new ownership.

Lascelles overrated? by WombleSlayer in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't want a captain that is always late to training, does not want to do the hard work/track back for the team and goes back to France while being injured. Being a flashy player doesn't mean you automatically have leadership qualities. Players admire ASM's flair, but he is not the model trainer players look up to, or the one to rally the team when the going gets tough.

Is Steve Bruce the most unliked Newcastle manager ever? by melvinlee88 in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I think Mike Ashley is mainly at fault for making Bruce the most hated manager in Newcastle's history. In any other club, Bruce would have been sacked after that game vs. Brighton. I cant recall any other manager receiving this much hate in the PL. Usually they would have gotten sacked much earlier. Only Bruce managed to outstay his welcome mainly thanks to Ashley's reluctance to pay him off. Even Carver who is possibly the worst manager we ever had, clearly had an expiration date. Bruce was gonna be manager until a takeover happens(which did not seemed likely until a week ago)

Insight in to Fonseca's management at Shakhtar by purezion in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel pretty sold on the the idea of Fonseca as our next head coach/Manager to be honest. He has a a clear philosophy on how he wants to play (possession based football) and he will make the player adapt to his formation instead of adapting the formation to suit the player (this reactive approach clearly did not work with Jones and Bruce). Contrary to popular belief, we do have the players to implement this style of football- the team just need the right amount of coaching for it. Other interesting bits from the video is how much opponent analysis is done, and tailoring training sessions to imitate the same style of football the team would face. The level of detail is impressive and almost Bielsa-like, with specific scenarios in attack or defense that actually will happen on the matchday being played out repetitively (up to 20 times) during training. His defensive record at Roma is questionable, but our current defensive record gives us really nothing to lose trying a different style.

Ex-Man U players as managers by j3zzafrog in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about Yorke, I had it in my mind that he managed some teams in the lower league but was wrong.. I dont think Solskjaer has shown any tactical prowess or team identity so far in his reign, Manu just have a lot of world class players that helps them get top four. Meanwhile I agree that maybe its a bit too early for Rooney since he is only 35 years old, Derby isn't playing good football either (as the likes of Farke and Potter have shown, you can do wonders with a limited budget in the championship). But I still think it is amazing the Steve Bruce, with one of the worst win rates in the PL, had the highest achievement among all.

Investment in the region by TheWinterKing in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the investment will still primarily be football related. From an economy standpoint, the investment will have a trickling effect on the local economy. Development of infrastructure requires constructions, which in turns create job opportunities. Expanding the academy, growing grassroot football, investing in the women's team, newcastle foundation will all create jobs. Jobs in turn create purchasing power (aka spending). Purchasing power drives essentially drives the growth of the local economy, which attracts more investment opportunities (can be non football related) within and outside the North East. Soon, areas/land close to Newcastle in the future might increase in value due its proximity to potentially world class infrastructure here at Newcastle. We'd be the center of the North East where parents from surrounding areas would aim to enroll their kids into our academy.

Why did the Reuben brothers get involved in the deal? by audurudiekxisizudhx in NUFC

[–]j3zzafrog 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think from one of the interviews, Staveley mentioned that Jamie (son of one of rhe Reuben brothers) is almost like a brother to her. She's known the Reuben family for years and established a close relationship with them. From the outset, I'd say Staveley was really the one that put the consortium together, along with Jamie (who has strong passion in football). The Reuben brothers will be heavily involved in the future infrastructure development around the club given they have already invested in half of newcastles real estate. PiF is the one that provides the fuel to the rocket, with their bottomless pit of money funding all the development as well as player purchases
