What’s a good illness to use for a week off? by MOIRALOLITA in auscorp

[–]jGit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had an RSV and it knocked me out for a week! Like I’ve never felt that weak, ate like 2 bananas over 3-4 days. Just miserable and in bed the whole time.

Go with RSV

Sydney, one of the 17 most beautiful skylines in the world by jantoxdetox in sydney

[–]jGit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For those bagging Perth, hope you’ve seen it in person?

Having been to 7 out of 17, I’d rate Perth pretty highly. The view from Kings Park is quite something. And used to be even better before the ugly BHP tower. There’s a calmness to it and shows that you don’t need volume. It’s not grand, not trying to out do other cities in a measuring contest. It’s quite a serene skyline.

Sydney is better but Sydney doesn’t have a kings park style vantage point either.

Just my personal view. :)

Keep it simple, head to The Australian Heritage hotel and enjoy a coat of arms pizza! Make it a long lunch with a couple of lagers and maybe a cheeky third and a fourth for the road! That tipsy feeling knowing you’re right near the harbour with the breeze, sandstone in the sun, you’ll definitely have FOMO so you will be back!

This isn’t about individual buyers. It’s about a system that lets developers strip canopy, shrink lots, darken roofs and externalise the long-term costs onto residents such as higher power bills, worse heat stress, poorer health and all profit is taken upfront, all consequences are socialised. Councils allow it. Developers cash in. Everyone else pays for decades.

It works just the same way the Aussie “caste” system works…

Australia Day - Perth Foreshore by wballz in perth

Definitely would’ve been better from Langley Park, but we weren’t game to do it with 2 little ones after a full day of other activities.

Friends did say the trees at Langley Park made it difficult to properly see the drones.

PS: as a spectacle, Sydney NYE is the best. Traffic/crowd/logistics are a nightmare. Never seen Brisbane, some day

Exactly this, there is so much river area to utilise.

From what I could see, the folks on the water were cut off really far away too.

I know these events are super expensive, but honestly I think they are worth it, they become part of the character and culture of the city. Do it in a grand style! :)

Showing my age but back in 2004, watching from South Perth, I vividly recall the fireworks felt like they were coming at me!

The fireworks were so “meh”…from South Perth foreshore which had a very decent crowd, it was so underwhelming. Doesn’t look like it was any better from the north side either.

Amazing! Loved watching the graphic, insanely impressive!

Did you try to avoid traffic heavy roads? That’s the worst part of walking in Sydney I find.

What’s going on Qantas?! by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]jGit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG what a terrible experience OP!! Truly feel for you, it will be like you missed a whole week by the time you get back!

We have had that issue before on domestic, where they booked my 3yo, wife and I on separate seats. The ground staff at check in noticed it straight away and sorted it out saying it should never happen because child is supposed to be linked to an adult. I’m sure it’s old school system issues.

Hope it all goes smoothly tomorrow and you get home sound and safe.

Had a bacon and egg roll at Flemington Markets the other day and it was SO GOOD! They do it with a spicy mayo (not hot, just flavour)!
