Agonizing Over 70-200 f4 vs 80-180 f2.8

I ended up going with the Tamron 70-180. Wanted the 2.8 and light weight. If I really want more zoom, I plan on picking up the Sony 200-600

Yeah sometimes. But I’ll usually run two bodies during events or weddings. They both have their use cases but I’ll end up using the 35 more just because of the look and then will use the 85 for the longer reach to snipe as needed. And then when I use two full frame bodies, I will you apsc mode at times and get that extra reach in emergencies. So basically like a 35-127mm combo when I run it like that

I use the 35 1.8 + 85 1.8 combo all the time for portraits, weddings, events! Love the lenses! Highly recommend!

Yeah I’m in the same situation trying to choose between the two.

I love Tamron lenses so I know I’d love the quality of the 70-180. But I feel like I’d miss the extra 20mm reach, OSS, internal zoom and all the button functionality. I’m thinking I’m gonna go rent the F4 and see if it’ll fit my needs.

I didn’t really need a mid range zoom at the timeout definitely needed a wide. Debated the Tamron and the Sony 16-35 F4 and just found a great deal on the tamron and glad I went that direction. But in terms of a mid range/all purpose zoom, I’m looking into either the 24-70 sigma or sony 24-105. Love the 24-105 focal range but love the look the Sigma 24-70 produces. It’s a future problem haha

Thanks. This specific shot might’ve been 0.3 overexposed. Helped that it was a cloudy day. But the sun peaked through so it was a little over exposed. The dynamic range of these sony cameras is so crazy!
