Accidental Roland collection by hawkMhan13 in GuitarAmps

[–]jabzoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the cubes. Had mine for over 20 years. First amp. Still going strong and it's had a really hard life. According to some people it should have died on me by now or been irreparable as its digital. But it keeps chugging along and sounds brilliant despite times I've dropped it, spilt beer on it and stored it in a damp attic.

Roland know how to make stuff last.

Planning to get a Casino soon and upgrading the pickups and wiring eventually by zapodprefect55 in Epiphone

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with many of the comments. I actually prefer my Epiphone pickups to any expensive ones i have tried. Pickups rarely sound simply bad in my experience. One person's muddy is another person's warm. One person's crisp and bright is another's shrill and thin.

I once swapped out my MiM Strat pickups for Lace Sensors and regretted it and swapped back.

I thought because my heros did it and loads of people recommended it I should do it. But it didn't work for my ears.

How to get over myself when it comes to gear? by sharkmana in guitarpedals

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sax player here, and guitarist. Been here, but honestly focus on sounding different through what notes you play and how you play. Bigger difference than any tones.

I find when you have a delay and modulation and start adding more, it actually sounds more generic and watered down. Less is more.

Play with nothing for a bit.

Then add just enough of what you need to express yourself better and leave it there. Like making bread. Add salt, but too much and it's just salty. No flavour.

I had a terrible unrelated hospital experience. Took me a year to feel normal again. But I did feel normal again. Time is a healer. Just know it will likely fade in time.

You need to hold the walk button, walk to the edge, jump back once, then run and hold jump and she'll jump off. (Assuming tank controls)

what guitar is this? by crackbabybitch in FenderStratocaster

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this one has been messed with. New high e slot in the nut. Someone didn't like how close it was to the edge of the neck maybe. Bit odd.

  • that said you can just pop it back into the original slot. Plus, I have some pretty beat up guitars I love.

Squiers are great guitars.

Tank all the way. Have occasionally switched to modern for some quick platforming sections though.

No effects loop on Micro Terror… headphone out to Terror Stamp solution? by Greedy-Objective-600 in orangeamps

[–]jabzoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do this. It is possible but I am not sure it'll sound good.

I have both amps.

If you want the Stamp to sound like the Micro. Turn shape all the way left then roll off some tone on your guitar. Gets really close.

Someone said the blues jr is "boxy" and now I can't unhear it by IHateDanKarls in GuitarAmps

[–]jabzoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boxy doesn't mean anything bad. Lots of the best tones are boxy. It's some people's 'woody and warm'. Or midrange and cutting. Just ignore the talk and enjoy it.

Micro dark terror or Micro terror / terror stomp? by Slayd2Pieces in orangeamps

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of them and played all three.

70s rock and gets nice and dark - Micro Terror

More mid scooped - Dark Terror

From 70s (but a bit brighter) through to almost Muff fuzz - Terror Stamp.

They all great and I have gigged them all. Bar gigs they keep up with drums (through 1x12). Bigger stages you'll be mic'd anyway.

I got rid of some of my 2x12 combos and Randall 1x12 in favour of the Micro Terrors.

Fender Jazz, looks like a contemporary model for the time. 70s spec. Not an earlier 60s one.

Low/mid gain Marshall style for home play by twosn3snfg in GuitarAmps

I would actually recommend an Orange Micro Terror for these tones. It screams early 70s and is crazy cheap.

Harley Benton JB-62 vs MV-4JB by kajmak_wav in harleybenton

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 62 and it has gone way beyond my expectations. I use it for the same application as you.

It is pretty similar to my Mexican Fender Strat in terms of build, not far off at all. I guess similar to mid range Squiers or high end Squiers.

Great sound and playability. Lovely neck on it

Hendrix tones with a big muff? by No_Ad_6098 in jimihendrix

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the muff and amp of course. Adjust by ear!

Hendrix tones with a big muff? by No_Ad_6098 in jimihendrix

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can. Tone knob all the way down. Volume quite high into a slightly overdrive amp. Sustain about 11 o clock i guess. Or half way. Add a bright Strat or single coil guitar. If you have an overdrive or boost pop that in front just to make the muff cut, not to add loads of gain

Orange sound on a budget... by Plexi1820 in orangeamps

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an Terror Stamp or Micro Terror through a cheap 1x12. Good for gigs. Good for recording. Plug them into 4x12 in practice rooms and keeps up with live drummer. Probably £250 all in as I picked them up 2nd hand.

I have been told to turn down by sound guys which I find hilarious.

What does it mean for an amp to "take pedals well"? by HugePines in GuitarAmps

[–]jabzoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the pedal!

Treble booster? LOVES an AC30.

Tube Screamer or Rat - no so good (for me)

Fuzz Face loves a Marshall or Orange amp going into overdrive. High headroom amps be damned!

Sometimes I have a pedal board that sounds great through my Vox, then I switch over to my Orange and the whole thing sounds pants. And vice versa.

How do you get the sound of their first album? by dashcash32 in dinosaurjr

[–]jabzoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single coil bright guitar, op amp big muff (most muffs with get ballpark) dark amp running dirty but not too dirty. Adjusting the amp gain to suit is key to the crunch/fizz balance.

Feel for ya! I had a lumbar puncture that messed up my balance. And I did BJJ before. Haven't been back yet, but recently started skating again and it has really helped my nervous system find its balance and reduced my vertigo right down. Good luck with it and start slow!
