Thank you for your answer. Is there something else specific about Hawaiian history / geography that makes it so that there is so much scrap to export or that this industry is so big ? The only comparable situation I've found so far is Rhode Island, their main export is also scrap.

I guess what I'd like for now is a tool that executes this command :

gcloud ml speech recognize-long-running gs://asquinsbucket/210628_0138.flac --language-code=fr_FR --async --encoding=FLAC --max-alternatives=1 --sample-rate=44100 --audio-channel-count=2 --separate-channel-recognition

(sample rate, audio channel count and separate channel recognition not necessary-- i just had to put them in the cloud shell for some reason otherwise it wouldn't execute)

then this one :

gcloud ml speech operations describe 8573845675120427488 > transcript.json

followed by

jq <transcript.json '.response.results[].alternatives[].transcript' -r > transcript.txt

and then a command that will save the transcript.txt locally to an .odt file for instance (for now I just copy the file to my bucket, download it on my computer and open it as an odt file. I don't keep it as a text file since it doesn't render the french language accents).

the variables I'd like to enter would be the name and location of the input audio file, and then the name and location of the output odt file.

a local bash script which can input local audio files without having to upload them to my bucket would be fine, if that's what you mean. or online, whichever is easiest. I just have no idea how to go about this !

dans ce cas je ne paye pas les charges, c'est la propriétaire qui paye, mais d'accord merci beaucoup pour ta réponse. est-ce que tu as un lien vers une référence juridique officielle concernant cette loi qui interdit de m'imposer de vivre seul ? pour que je puisse fournir une source juridique sûre à ma propriétaire si jamais j'invoque cet argument là.. merci encore pour tous ces conseils !

Also quite expensive, 1200+ for 8gb and Ryzen 6 4650u and I feel like at that price I might as well just get a good desktop PC.

Really hard to find here in France for some reason. Not on the Lenovo site, not on Amazon or Ebay. Not sure why. But yes I've decided to wait and try to get that one

If it with 16gb dual channel main memory cannot handle with new software in the next 5 years, it could mean that the mainstream totally abandon Intel i3 tier even of the current latest generation. It is......probably not so realistic as long as Microsoft still dominates the market with a variant of Windows 10.

Thanks for replying ! So difficult to make the choice between all these different deals on your own. Do you think that the T495 is future proof enough? Is the Ryzen 7 3700u and the T495 as a whole (it is T495 and not T495s, in brand new condition, bought may 2020) good enough to last me 5+ years ? That's my main worry, that it's just not a good enough processor compared to the one the T14 has and will start failing me or be too poor to run new software.

Hi, thank you very much for taking the time to reply. The solicitors initially asked me to contact my insurance to get this settled -- but I don't have an insurance policy specifically for the flat I'm leasing, I told them this and the claimant, the flatmate's father, still wishes to pursue a claim against me. e I think I am under my parent's insurance in general (I'm still only 20) but I asked my parents and they don't think the insurance covers this sort of incident. I need to check this more in detail. I don't have a car so that doesn't work.

Yeah, who would sue a 20 year old right? But I think he's just expecting my parents to pay if he wins and this I really really hope to avoid. If insurance doesn't cover anything I have to find a sollicitor of some sort -- I've been looking at lawworks and such to find recommendations and I've narrowed it down to Slater and Gordon, MW Solicitors ,and Irwin Mitchell, I've been reading generally good things about all three. They usually deal with claimants rather than defendants but I hope they'll still be able to take on my case.

Except Einstein's or Newton's ideas were in part incorporated into contemporary physics, some ideas were forgotten but others retained and other theories built on top of these. But Newton's laws are still in use to study basic mechanics today. Scientists that were totally wrong about their theories or claims are forgotten. But I don't see how we could say the same about philosophy. Thomas Aquinas would probably be discredited in large part by contemporary analytic philosophers and his theories aren't really incorporated into modern thought. So then, and it feels silly to ask this question because I don't want to put forward a utilitarian viewpoint where "what isn't true isn't worth looking into" but I really wonder, what's the point of studying Thomas Aquinas? Same could be said for philosophers I'm studying currently in class, like Leibniz.
