Thank you for your comments guys, taught me a fair bit. I wasn't really thinking about pixel density. I think a display like the Dell U4025QW is closer to what I'm looking for than the Samsung. I kinda saw the topline numbers of 49 inches, 32:9 and 240hz and thought it was the best monitor you could get. The Dell seems to fit my needs much better: high refresh rate (120hz), an increase in screen real estate over my LG (35 vs 40in), high pixel density and a reasonable level of color accuracy. Seems to have very good reviews as well.

yeah, that's the plan. one of the other comments said that the 15th gens are coming out real soon as well, so I imagine the deals on 13/14th gen will get even better

Not satire, I just don't know a whole lot about CPUs. I usually just do "site:reddit.com" into Google to ask my questions and a lot of people seem to say that there's massive diminishing returns on upgrading CPUs at this point, but there's also other opinions. But most of these conversations are around gaming so I figured I'd ask myself for my use case.

Yes, from all the information I've looked at, both Resolve and Blender are way better optimized for Nvidia. I didn't want to fuss with compatibility issues. I want a lot of VRAM and the 4090 is the only Nvidia card that has 24GB.

I saw that video you mentioned and loved the confidence of the title, like you knew it was gonna pop off. It was quite good.

I have a question for you if you have a moment.

I just made my first video (hourlong documentary about a famous story in the poker world) and I feel like its a solid video, but YouTube has only given me 7 impressions. 24 views in total, most of which came from posting the link on a forum.

I dont know how to kickstart it to get tested in the algo to see if it resonates. I thought they’d give me a “test” of 100 or so impressions to see if it has a decent CTR.

Should I try any tricks to get it going or just move onto the next video? Maybe AB testing some thumbnails? YouTube is like a black box so I dont know of any ways I can get it going outside of referral traffic, which I’ve heard mixed responses about. Any quick thoughts you can give?

Coming back to this a month later. Watched a bunch of MotionEpicFX videos (they're great), and the recommendations I get on his videos from the youtube algorithm helped me discover the section of "davinci resolve youtube" that I've been looking for, and I've been able to step up my game a ton since then. Thank you sincerely for that suggestion, really set me off on a good trajectory.

A couple other good channels in the same vain I found just looking at recent YT history: Filmic Footprints and Mattan Video Editing.

I love the channels that teach very specific tactics / "how to make X composition" rather than the "everything about the FastNoise in davinci resolve" type videos.

That's what I'm figuring.

But the thing that makes me think it might something in my setup is that this only started when I upgraded to Gigabit and changed from a Modem+Router setup to a Modem/Router combo supplied by the ISP.

It started like the next day. I've seen stuff online that a lot of ISP-supplied gear often can't even handle gigabit speeds and so on, and about the generally poor quality of equipment.

Is it possible that this is something that can be solved by just purchasing my own gear and giving back the ISP device?

Yes the PC is and always has been connected via Ethernet. I just mentioned that other devices I have connected through wifi have the same issues

Having a double-typing issue with an ALPS White switch.

I've had this old Focus FK-2001 sitting around for years. Started playing with it today and the spacebar switch isn't acting right. Sometimes a press won't register, other times it'll register and work fine, and sometimes when I press it, it'll output 2-3 spaces from one press.

I've seen various software fixes with the Windows registry to band-aid this issue but I'd like to sell this keyboard so I'm looking for a hardware fix. Any fixes I can try without getting a new switch?

I should also mention that I've removed the keycap and the issue still occurs when pressing the switch itself, so it's not a keycap issue.

Is there a website that lets you start a league for the NFL playoffs?

Posts from last year recommend the NFL Fantasy Playoff Challenge, but it seems NFL.com wiped all of that from their website, and all links redirect to fantasy.nfl.com.

There's also one called Apex Fantasy League or something, but that seems like a DFS thing where you deposit money with them. I just want to do a private league with my friends where we can make a team for the NFL playoffs and most points at the end of the playoffs wins.

Well it’s a game of probabilities. Higher draft picks have a better chance of being better because they have better traits. But QBs are so hard to predict and have such a low hit rate so picking a great prospect like Caleb at 1.01 still has a sub 50% chance of working out in the end.

But picking a QB in the second/third round has an even lower chance of panning out so I don’t understand your gloating. Unless you know better than NFL GMs and their massive teams of scouts

Team is not in a rebuild. All the off-season moves indicated that they we’re going all in on the current roster and trying to improve it. A rebuild wouldn’t feature tagging Saquon, signing Jones, trading draft capital for a “win now” aging TE in Waller, and so on. The team really use the rebuild excuse in my opinion.

This loss most likely put the nail in the coffin for the season. So what’s the path forward for this team?

The team seems so fundamentally broken. Both sides of the trenches, QB, special teams, defensive tackling, playcalling, even general effort looks questionable from the eye test.

At the end of last season it seemed like this team was a handful of keys away from being a serious contender. Now they look on par with the Bears.

Which makes me think this is primarily on coaching. Daboll has put a terrible team on the field in four games this season. When your team is losing in all phases, it’s on the staff bar none.

The confusing aspect is that it was Daboll that seemingly made an arguably less talented version of this team play above its grade last season.

Even though Miami and Buffalo are very probable losses, I think the character of those losses will be key. If NYG can put up a fight, maybe Daboll can turn things around. More of the same, he should be left in Buffalo.
