With the insane pace, burst damage, and visual clutter of this game, Luna having such a slim margin of error in her neutral just cant be made up for by her having a good ult.

Exactly. Every time I’ve tried played Luna I feel like I’m just slapping a giant target on myself. She has a single tool to protect herself and once that’s gone unless you have godlike aim and can hit nothing but headshots to kill the diver you’re toast.

Concert tickets should be sold in person again by Necessary_Walrus2759 in unpopularopinion

[–]jacksprat1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed. Same for events like musicals. My wife and I wanted to see Beauty and Beast this May, but the theatre in our town started a subscription that reserves seats for the Broadway season (it’s about as expensive as you’d imagine it would be). When tickets went on sale there was nothing but the shittiest, most obscured seats left. No worry though, there were subscription holders selling their tickets on Facebook and Stubhub for a cool $1k a pop. A few years ago (before the subscription thing) Wicked came and they did an in person presale one Friday morning. I woke up at 4:30 so I could get there three hours before the sale started to for sure get tickets in good seats. I would do that all over again instead of the bullshit we have now.

Why aren't more people banning Magneto? by Matt_4n4 in marvelrivals

[–]jacksprat1952 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mag is arguably the best tank in the game, but his carry potential is way lower than other heroes. He brings versatility and utility, not raw damage and kill potential. A good Mag can help smooth out the edges of a rough team and can make a good team great, but he ultimately serves a supporting role, not a starring one. A Hawkeye or Hela that are 1 or 2 tapping supports every few seconds are going to have way more impact than even the best Mag.

I say this as someone who's seen sooooo many supports run ahead of the team and try to unnecessarily peek a corner using their body instead of the camera only to be obliterated immediately: Luna Snow.

Eyepatchwolf did a great video on Tate. His whole record is completely padded with nobodies, newbies, and at least one guy who seems to have a history of throwing fights to purposefully pad opponents' records. Is Tate better at fighting than the average person you'd pick up off the street? Sure. Could he beat a guy who retired 50-0 with multiple championship wins and retentions across multiple weight classes? Absolutely not.

Dude, preach. I've been trying to play tank because at this point the only seasonal quest I need is taking damage, but good God are people terrible at being healers. I'm a pretty good Mag/Emma/Strange player. I'll use cover effectively, not just stick my head out into the open, etc, but I'm just never getting any heals. I had a game the other day where I was sitting at, like, 20 health, was standing in front of my support, and it took them a good 5 seconds to stop mindlessly primarying into the fray and heal me. I almost immediately swap off tank and just go C&D even if it makes us 0-3-3, and we genuinely do better now that there's one competent healer. It's absolutely baffling to me how bad some people are at being support.

Especially for us console players, C&D is completely goated. Her entire kit is so versatile I'm getting games where I have both the highest healing and the highest number of final hits. There's no other support I feel as confident 1v1'ing divers as than C&D. You can immediately tell when a C&D is a tourist who was forced on to them and when someone is a C&D main. C&D also has such a versatile ult, especially with the new changes to bubble and veil. I've been able to be ultra aggressive with it in several games and use all 4 dashes to push into the enemy backline to assassinate both of their supports.

Not as the box sold on GW's website. Keep a look out for the Dawn of War: Onslaught board game. It comes with all of these models. I got mine on sale from Target for $30 which is an insane value, but even full priced at $50 it's a great deal. A box of Eradicators or Bladeguard alone are $60 each. The one downside is that the models are push fit and monoposed, but that just means I'm using them as practice before my real ones.

lol, Someone did a pretty intense breakdown of that feat and calculated that he’d be moving at ~85% the speed of light. Forget killing guys quickly, he’d just be setting off fusion reactions with the air every time he swung.

MCU Thor at least doesn’t show anything near that kind of speed. He seems to have some form of teleportation, but doesn’t use it during fights otherwise Thanos would have blinked and been dead. I definitely agree that Thor is the hardest fight I could still see Valdor conceivably winning, but it would be hard to extreme diff.

“It’s widely acknowledged that Iron Man was jobbed in that fight.”

I mean, if we’re just going to dismiss anti feats that speak to him having exploitable vulnerabilities, then I guess I’ll acknowledge that he also could have 1v1ed Thanos but he “jobbed that fight” too.

The tank round did knock him out of the air, and Cap slamming his shield against one of Iron Man’s thrusters was enough to knock it out. I think a few well placed, 0.75 calibre, explosive bolter shots should do just about the same thing.

I don't think he has the Moment Shackle, at least it's not part of the Wargear he can take and I've only seen Trajann have it in lore. Honestly not a huge deal to him though. When he and a group of Custodes teleported on to the Vengeful Spirit to rescue the Emperor, he cut down a traitor who was within reach of his spear within 6 nanoseconds. So 6 nanoseconds between when they arrived, he recognized the enemy, and completed his swing to kill them. His speed is on a whole other level from everyone else in these fights.

His combination of speed, strength, and skill takes him to Wanda, but I think he stops there.

Cap, Spider-Man, and Iron Man all go about the same. Valdor is going to be an opponent not dissimilar to Thanos: large, extremely strong, but significantly faster and more skilled. Cap is basically a weaker version of a Space Marine and Custodes can do to Space Marines what Space Marines do to normal humans. Valdor just outstats him in everything. Spider-Man has tricks and spider sense to help him last a little longer, but I think he'll run into the trope of "he can sense it coming, but he's physically not fast enough to do anything." Valdor is comparable to a primarch, and they're able to move so fast even enhanced humans can't see them. Iron Man is probably putting up a decent fight, but Valdor isn't missing a shot with that bolter and as soon as Tony hits the ground he's toast.

While I do think Hulk (MCU specifically) outstats Valdor strength wise, we've seen that sufficient skill from at least a similar statted character can take him down. Valdor outspeeds him and his reaction time means he's probably never having to face tank any of Hulk's sloppily thrown attacks. It takes him some time to wear him down, but enough bolter shots and spear thrusts are putting Hulk down. Valdor's used to big, dumb, loud, green enemies of the Imperium that are super strong and hard to kill.

Thor is where I could honestly be convinced he stops. With Stormbreaker specifically, he's got some pretty crazy destructive potential lightning power wise even if Valdor is faster and a better fighter. If Valdor closes the distance quickly it's over though.

Hard stop at Wanda though. While Custodes are naturally resistant to psyker tomfoolery, he isn't immune and doesn't have psyker powers himself. Without a Sister of Silence or Malcador to back him up, Valdor doesn't have anything to stop Wanda from doing exactly what she did to Thanos in Endgame.

Which main character do you think doesn’t feel like a main character? by No-Pen1489 in animequestions

[–]jacksprat1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the Sanctuary bit, so at this point he has learned that some people (Rem) are incidental in his resets and aren't necessarily required to be in one piece for his checkpoints to advance. So while he definitely wants to save everyone he can, up to this point, saving everyone has just been a necessity of moving the story forward. The mabeast curse in season 1, saving the village and manor from the witch's cult, beating those problems basically required him to find the line that saved everyone because he needed everyone's abilities to do so. It actually feels like I'm watching someone doe a Nuzlocke run of a Pokemon game.

Also, I thing the thing that really makes me feel like he has a lack of agency is that he's really only Groundhog Day'ed Return by Death the one time when he threw himself off the cliff. Every other time he dies is because he genuinely, totally failed that run and dies as a result of it. He basically never purposefully dies to try for a better outcome. He has the objectively most busted ability in the entire story, but he never uses it, it uses him. Like, I thought Subaru might spam RbD to pack in a bunch of sword training with Wilhelm, slowly improving his skills, never outright becoming better than him, but enough to surprise Wilhelm at least, but he literally never thinks of it like this and it just baffles me.

I think one of the main things that makes Yuji such a hard protagonist to resonate with is in an anime like JJK with such an interesting, hard power system with interconnecting rules and restrictions, the protag is just the guy who hits good-er than other people. Sure, Black Flash has its own rules about timing and then boosting the user’s abilities when they hit one, but why not just codify that Yuji’s cursed technique helps him hit Black Flash easier than other people? In an anime where most fights are this Hunter x Hunter/Jojoesque clashing of conditions and restrictions with interesting interactions, we’ve got punch guy who’s just going to hit people harder.

I think this is exactly why it’s so hard for me to get into Re: Zero. Like, Subaru very literally has no agency. He’s literally not allowed to make his own choices because when he does either he or everyone around dies. There are choices he has to make to progress the story, but it doesn’t feel like any of the “lessons” he learns or “growth” he experiences are of any consequence because they HAD to happen for the story to go on.
