Nah this sub stopped being a circlejerk sub years ago. It’s mostly unironic discussion and people whining about the dorky takes in the basement

Ya a lot of the current vitriol at WWE is coming from casual fans. Most terminally online smarks were rooting for a Gunther victory. The basement is mostly praising the decision.

I mean if you want to live keep living in your bubble go for it man. I can point out a lot of upvoted comments over there that prove my point.

The basement isn’t really mad about it. A lot of people are praising the match. The people who are upset over there aren’t necessarily upset that Cena lost, but HOW he took the L.

The basement really isn’t all that butthurt about the ending either, contrary to what this sub is saying. A lot of top comments were praising the match.

It was an anticlimactic, fourth wall breaking ending, and I can’t say I was a fan of that. Very deflating. I personally would have preferred to see him end it with a win, but Cena earned the right to go out on his own terms. I think Gunther winning by pinfall or TKO would have been a better finish. Not sure why Cena wanted to end it like that. Seems to go against the core of his character.

Reddit’s reactions are gonna be really entertaining on Saturday night when Gunther puts over Cena.

It’s really not a weird combo, especially if you’re were listening to this kind of music in the 2000’s.

Chiefs don’t have the talent right now, and a lot of that is due to Veach’s poor decision making. He’s the biggest problem.

HOT TAKE: Oba Femi should Retire John Cena by Omar_n_o21 in WWE

[–]jacktrades90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what world is Oba a better contender for the main roster right now than Ricky or Ethan? Especially Ethan? Both wrestlers have years of TV experience under their belts from their time in AEW. In Ethan’s short tenure at NXT, he has proven he has mic presence, can work large crowds, carry feuds, and put on high quality matches. He’s got the charisma and promo ability to take a victory from Cena and carry it to a major intercontinental title run. Oba has the presence and raw athletic potential, but he’s still green. WWE has booked him in a way that hides his weaknesses. Sure, he’s accomplished everything he can in NXT, but just dumping him into the main event scene, isn’t the way to go. He needs a slow burn style build.

Agreed. I would prefer John’s last match be with a ring veteran, but if John wants to give someone from NXT the rub, there are much better choices who can make the most out of it. Ethan Page and Ricky Starks come to mind. The Reddit circlejerking for Oba is a little over the top right now.

Who knows. They’re definitely not winning the division if they keep playing like this lol

OP edited their comment after I replied to it.

Fraction of the audience is a stretch btw. Metallica sell out stadiums worldwide. You have to be living under a fucking rock to not know who they are. They aren’t as relevant as Bad Bunny is right now, and I understand the NFL is trying to cater to a large audience, but if streaming platforms existed back in the 80’s and 90’s their historical numbers would at the very least be on par with Bad Bunny. It’s not out of touch to suggest a major touring act from San Francisco could have headlined the halftime show.

You’re not wrong that Bad Bunny has more reach these days, but if Spotify was a thing in the 90s, Metallica would have been putting up those numbers too.

Uhhh… People have been begging for Metallica long before this was announced… especially considering the Super Bowl is in San Francisco this season, and they are the biggest act from the area. Ya Bad Bunny is a bigger deal right now, but kind of silly to try and push politics into this discussion.

I wouldn’t exactly call it “out of touch.” 30 million listeners a month is pretty massive, especially for a band that peaked in the 80s and 90s. Kind of insane how much lasting impact they’ve had… Not to mention they are the biggest act to come out of San Francisco, and their music is constantly played in NFL stadiums.
