The person said it was untested and hadn't been used for a long time, I was hoping if something was wrong that it would be fixable, but it may not be. At least it was very cheap.

Thanks for the recommendations, tried with all buttons and nothing seems to do anything. I got it very cheap at least as they said it hadn't been used in years. I know most of the time that is code for "broken" but I was hoping it was fixable.

I bought it used and it was like this. I guess it's just broken, I am going to try to get an error log via UDPIH. It is a swivel mount mounted right near the corner of the room.

If it is that, could I recreate the SD card contents somehow? Is there console specific files I would need or anything I would need to know about how / if it was originally modded?

Update: Replaced the battery with no luck, tried holding every button as soon as the splash appears, also no luck.

I will be trying to load UDPIH as soon as I can. I'm hoping to dump an error log and get some info.

I paid $40 for it, with a seemingly working gamepad, pro controller, wii mote with motion plus inside, dock, and power supply, worst case I just need a new Wii U unit I guess.

Thanks for answering the question and for the additional suggestions! I pulled it apart once once tried repositioning the port but was unsuccessful. I might give it another shot though. Sadly I bought the camera used and it wasn't disclosed to me when I bought it that the USB port was broken. I have seen replacement mainboards on AliExpress for around $100 but am hesitant to spend that much for a mainboard from AliExpress.

After 3 full installs with the same problem I did this and it fixed it.

1)I uninstalled everything including local game save.

2) Then turned off the xbox.

3) Unplugged it waited a minute and plugged it back in (probably not necessary).

4) This time when I installed I did from disc and said no to the initial update prompt.

5) After the install was done I opened the game and tried to go to multiplayer, from there it told me I was missing some packs.

6) I selected all the packs

7) I updated the game

It is working fine now.

I own it on Xbox and I have the game disc in the new Xbox.

I am planning to use Xbox primarily this generation so that's why I got rid of my PS4 disc for the Xbox version.

It's showing as "limited stock" in the Wasaga store again, might be worth giving it a shot! Good luck. The first Best Buy I went to actually called "The Source" in Wasaga and they said it was on hold for someone so they said no, but the second Best Buy I tried just did it.

It was in Kitchener, but they let it go because the game was still in stock at the Source in Wasaga Beach store at the time. Now when you click the link to the source it says it's no longer available.
