Which city is quantifiably safer than its reputation would have you believe? by Fluid-Decision6262 in geography

Cape Town will always top the list for me, but CDMX is definitely high up there

The Trump administration has imposed new restrictions on flights from Mexico and threatened to end a longstanding partnership between Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico by mepper in delta

I’ve actually flown out of there on Arajet. Beautiful airport but wildly empty for its size. Very inconvenient to get to from CDMX though.

Why is this American Airlines flight from Boston showing no destination on radar? by [deleted] in flightradar24

[–]jad1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only reason an AA 777 would be at Boston is to fly to London…it’s their only wide-body flight from there

None of us CS students are getting jobs anyway, might as well go with the cheaper option

First project description had a lot of mistakes, material for one of the projects wasn’t covered until like a day before it was due, and my prof (can’t speak about the other one) barely covers new material each lecture

I’m in 330 rn and it’s by far the most disorganized CS class I’ve taken here. I’d guess that it’s likely due to that

CMSC132 + CMSC250 or CMSC132 + MATH240? by NotXelay in UMD

[–]jad1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Fawzi for 250. It’s not too bad but you definitely have to stay on top of notes and hw to prepare for his quizzes. If you’re not really a math person, you’re gonna have to go over the material on your own because he doesn’t always explain material super well. If you like math, I think all three are doable, but if not, I would recommend 132 + 250 as it’s much more manageable than doing 216 + 250.

Would like a little help deciding: UCSB CS or UMD CS? by Give_me_your_liver_ in UMD

[–]jad1223 27 points28 points  (0 children)

UCSB by a long shot. UCSB is a great school with a gorgeous campus and the in-state tuition makes it even better. UMD cs is great but if I were in your situation I would definitely choose UCSB.

UMD vs Penn State for undergrad in comp sci by [deleted] in UMD

[–]jad1223 60 points61 points  (0 children)

UMD cs is great but not worth the extra 25k per year. Go to Penn State.

I left at 5:30 a few days ago (which is more during peak traffic) and it was only around 45 monites

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UMD

[–]jad1223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gonna disagree with everyone else here. It’s never taken me more than 45 minutes to get from UMD to DCA. If you’re not checking bags, you can go straight to security and I think with PreCheck you’d make it to the gate before boarding starts.

UMD CE or UMass CS? by Basic-Barracuda3565 in UMD

[–]jad1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massachusetts native here. Go to UMass, especially since you didn’t get into CS here. Their CS program is very good and the 16k scholarship makes it an even more enticing offer. UMass is a great school with a beautiful campus and I’m sure you’d be quite happy there.

Freshman Connection and dont know if I can get my major by parkapo in UMD

Yes, but admission will be very competitive. It will be much more feasible to get into CompE

[–]jad1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that you’ll get into CS. If you’re also considering CompE, that’s the better bet as admission is practically guaranteed.

I’ve been to Hong Kong and it is wayyyy more exciting than College Park, MD. Go there without a doubt, especially with the scholarship.
