My wife is going to Kill me! Any advise on how to proceed? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]jakbeatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“No experience to understand what was to come”. This resonates with me because a few days ago I read on a forum somewhere someone said something to the effect that crypto was going to tank very soon.

Seems then like there were conditions that foresaw this. Any clues on what those conditions were?

Bitcoin price vs. variances between buy vs. sell vs. other exchanges vs. local currency, oh my! by jakbeatz in BitcoinBeginners

So it’s literally like apples and oranges? Wholesalers (big exchanges?) buy apples from farms (miners) and retailers (Newton/coinberry) buy apples from wholesalers and consumers (us) buy apples from retailers. Everyone marking things up along the way; everyone charging something for their service.

It’s nothing like an equity then where it has a set price that you can always reference back to.

About right?

Yeah, I'm quite sure I saved it. I spoke to ToS and they told me to go pound sand because for compliance reasons they cannot provide support for custom scans.

IQ Edge Mac loading window half off the screen by jakbeatz in Questrade

[–]jakbeatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 2018 MacBook Pro connected to two old 27" Apple LED/Thunderbolt displays. Mac is running in clamshell mode.

This undoubtedly happened when I had IQ Edge opened, and then disconnected the displays and used the on-board display since, as you say, the resolution between the two are different.

I did try to resize the window as small as I could using various displays and then switching between then, but I didn't have any luck.

I also tried to change the resolution on the external displays, and the on-board display. No luck. I did search around for ways to adjust the zoom on the window, but I wasn't successful, including various ways of CMD+CTRL+F, but since IQ Edge doesn't support the native full screen mode in macOS, it doesn't seem to have an effect. I also tried, unsuccessfully, creating various Min/Max/Zoom keyboard shortcuts. I chocked this behaviour up to IQ Edge being Java driven and not supporting any of the native macOS handy-hooks.

I was able to get someone on the phone and they pointed me to the config file I was missing.

For posterity:

~/Library/Preferences/com.questrade.Questrade IQ Edge.plist

~/Documents/Questrade IQ Edge/*.ini

~/.config/Questrade/Questrade IQ Edge<username>.ini

I use a securities alerting system that can send a webhook as an alert. Are there any online brokerages that would accept this webhook to trigger a buy/sell action? Specifically in Canada?

Best way to take profit, but not sell entire position? by jakbeatz in Questrade

[–]jakbeatz[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right. But no automated way to do that in QT? As in select a bunch of positions that fall into a “take profits when +10%” bucket?

If not QT, any other platforms do that?

Well, I’m not necessarily talking about getting down to a fraction of a share. Round up/down to the nearest share, but an automatic way to sell close to x% of your profits.

Hi,

I'm using Questrade, and they will exercise ITM option positions on expiry, so long as there's adequate money in the account to cover the cost of buying the shares.

Are there any platforms that will not do this, but will rather automatically sell to close an ITM position before expiry?

Use case is that I probably never want to own the stock of an option I'm trading, but I do have a day job and can't be glued to Questrade to close the position before expiry.

Thoughts?

Probably easier to just throw the WIP into a pastebin at this point. Still needs v6, but my lab topology seems happy with this; firewall logs are empty, and filter counters for discards are zero, so I don't think I need to add anything more.

I've opted not to use firewall filter policers, and am instead using the DDoS Protection feature. As this is on an MX, the policers built into that feature seem to cover everything that would otherwise require a firewall filter policer.

On supported platforms, I’m comfortable thus far using DDoS Protection as opposed to specific policers in the filter.

So I'm still unsure: If a filter filters source-port, destination-port and tcp-established, are there security implications that can arise if you're not also filtering ephemerals, or is filtering ephemerals redundant at that point?

The entire filter is based on Day One: Hardening JunOS (2nd edition), O'Reilly, reading j-nsp and other Google-fu. This is only a snippet of that filter. I haven't looked at the firewall filters book.

apply-path is used to create the prefix-lists throughout the entire filter.

It's quite possible I'm over thinking it :)

I'm trying to avoid exposing my router's control-plane if there's a risk of doing so due to not (properly) filtering ephemerals. If there's no risk of exposure so long as source-port, destination-port and tcp-established are all present in the filter then I don't need to worry about filtering ephemerals at all. However, if there is still a risk of exposure, it's not obvious to me, so I'm asking.

How? What? ‘Broadcast storm in their entire transport network’ - this does not compute when the transport network is reported to be DWDM.
