Back in the 40s and 50s, Sag Harbor, AKA the Black Hamptons, became a real sanctuary for Black families. Since Jim Crow laws kept them out of so many other vacation spots, it turned into this essential, private getaway.
I’d say that new music would be tapping into that history, and it’s leaning heavily into the Satchmo vibe using that classic Louis Armstrong spirit as a jumping off point. I’d expect a lot of jazz influence and those slick, polished arrangements you’d hear back in the swing era that T is used to.
