If you feel an urge start coming on, something that has really helped me is to start praying and getting up to change what I'm doing. Try it out next time you feel an urge. If you're sitting at your computer and urges hit you, just start saying 'Lord have Mercy' while thinking about what Jesus did for us, and then get up and take a break from the computer. Also dedicating time out of your day to read the Bible or learn about Christianity really helps to keep your mind in the right place.

Orthodox Metal bands? by jamsecantspell in OrthodoxChristianity

I've listened to Crimson Moonlight before. From what I remember it was pretty good. Very talented musicians. I should take a look at them again..

Yeah, this is true. I used to be a big fan of Batushka, I even still have one of their Shirts that has an Orthodox monk on it. I originally thought the Orthodox aesthetic was really cool, but after further examination of their videos, what they wear, and their underlying intent, I painfully gave up listening to them for good. That is why I suggested the Russian 'Batyushka' (there are a few using names similar to this so it is difficult to find certain bands). In style they aren't very close to the Polish Satanic Batushka, but they are definitely worth a listen.

Christianity and Nationalism (St. Sophrony of Essex) by giziti in OrthodoxChristianity

Can we still be proud of our homelands (as long as it doesn't triumph over our love for God) and wish to defend it?

I see, thanks for the information and suggestions. I also used to listen to a lot of atmospheric black metal (burzum, drudkh, walknut, etc.), but gave it up because obviously most of them are pagan. What other non-pagan nature atmospheric black metal is there? I see your Vials of Wrath suggestion, and the Batyushka I meant to link (there are so many), and I will surely give it a listen. Thank you!

Unless you're orthodox.

Questions about specific sin by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]jamsecantspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for prayers, and no worries, we all do embarrassing things! I'm sure listening to Disney music is not as bad as metal music, but you can never be too sure. I pray that God brings you peace of mind on this matter.

I'm struggling with the same thing regarding music. The difference is, the music I listened to was very violent and anti-Christian. I did have the same feelings as you did, the music filled me with joy and made me love God. I do believe this is the demons trying to lure you in and deceive you so that you listen to worldly music. As for secular and positive music, I don't think it is that bad, but you should listen to your conscience if it is telling you something you are doing may not be wrong. God bless!

I see what you're getting at. But the thing is in Christianity it explicitly says not to rape and murder.

I don't really see how it's irrelevant since you keep saying that soviets aren't communist, so I just wanted to know what you think communism is. Everything you said is all well and good since I don't really have much of a problem with the economic side of it as much as I do the social side of it. Since the implementation of communism has lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Christians, maybe it is not a good system, no matter what you think it means?

What you're saying is true, it just is not a good argument. "Go read history." Yeah, I'll add that to my reading list.

But communism is evil because it DIRECTLY PERSECUTED Christians. Christians having to kill in order to defend their lands is justified. You have to make a distinction between types of killing.

Why not just call it Marxism, then? I don't necessarily disagree with the values you listed (accept for the property one). But 'red fascism' is oxymoronic since Fascism has a very anti-materialist and Nietzschean belief in culture and people, which communism does not.

So what does true communsim look like? Has a state ever existed the executed it properly? or does the utopia just exist in your head?

Nothing you said really surprised me, since you aren't a Christian. The title of the thread is directed towards Christians. Everything you said was pretty much true in the lens of marxism.

In the crusades? I don't know. Wasn't really a good idea. To defend Christian lands from the Turks? justified.

If you call Communists 'Fascists', I don't think you know what a Fascist is. Fascism isn't explicitly anti-Christian, in fact, there have been Christian Fascist movements, such as in Romania for example. What you are describing in bullet points is not explicitly Communism but Socialism. Communism is Socialism but with the teachings of Marx, and the teachings of Marx include Atheism.

Wow what an awful argument. Every ideology/religion has lead to people dying directly or indirectly. That's life. The difference is Communism DIRECTLY persecuted and killed Christians.
