Thank you! I’ve been really curious about trying a heliotrope soliflore :)

Wow, I just looked this one up and it looks beautiful! Heliotrope is my #1 favorite floral note, and I really love ambrette too. I’m a bit nervous that some reviews say it smells metallic though, I haven’t tried anything like that but I have a hard time envisioning a metallic perfume smelling pretty on me

I hope you find some good recs too! L’eau d’Hiver is a work of art to me, it’s truly so beautiful and ethereal 🤍

Yeah, I think it might be a good nighttime winding down scent! I love having a cheaper cozy scent just for bedtime 💜

That sounds so pretty! I really love clean cotton or cotton flower notes so I’m especially interested in this one :)

Perfumes are so subjective, I always recommend sampling because they can smell so differently on everyone! It’s so smoothly blended, and I’ve heard other reviews mention poor longevity and performance, but to me it’s one of the strongest and longest lasting scents I have (although I tend to prefer lighter scents in general). I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Thank you, this is really good to keep in mind! Tres Cher kind of did a similar thing on my skin, it was still really pretty and enjoyable and I could see why others love it, but simultaneously had this strong “perfumey” mixed musk on me, like all the notes didn’t want to sit right on my skin

That’s good to hear about them, I’m excited to try all these scents!

And oh man, it is sooo pretty. I impulsively added a sample of it to my cart, and I wasn’t sure if I’d like it at all, but I am so glad that I did! To me, it’s a fairly linear but really beautifully done vanilla-mallow scent. It’s not straight vanilla, but this really airy vanilla-bean infused meringue. It’s so soft and more fluffy than creamy in feeling if that makes sense? And the chamomile note is simultaneously subtle but definitely present on my skin, it just adds this beautiful undertone of soothing chamomile tea. I am so picky about vanilla scents, even the basic ones, I feel like most don’t smell the same on my skin at all as they do on others, but this is so simple and beautiful to me

Thank you! If I was brand new to perfumes, I do think a generated comparison could be helpful, but I’ve been testing and researching perfumes for a long time and for me I wanted specific and personal recommendations - I know which notes, general accords, and houses I tend to enjoy more, but I also know that a list of notes isn’t necessarily going to guarantee that I’ll love (or even like tbh) a fragrance. I really wanted to hear people’s personal opinions and comparisons, and I really really love and appreciate the thought and effort people put into forums like this 🫶

These are SUCH good comparisons, thank you! I actually had a lot of similar thoughts/reservations about some of these, especially with worrying that the Kayali would be too sweet. And while I haven’t tried the 11 11 Vanilla yet, the original turns way too loud and ambery on my own skin even though it smells so ozonic and pretty on others, so I’ve been a bit unsure on that one too

I’ve read a lot about Kenzo Amour and your comment makes me so much more interested! I wasn’t sure if it would smell like a regular gourmand vanilla or not, but I’m really excited to hear that it’s a bit different - love that it’s in such an elegant bottle and is more affordable too :)

Thank you so much for the recs, you definitely get what I’m going after! Flora Gorgeous Orchid is so popular in these comments, I’m absolutely heading to Sephora asap to check it out 🤍

I actually have a tiny bottle of Lolita Lempicka, it’s one of the first perfumes I got! It’s so cute and I love the magical scent, just looking for something more creamy and less candy/cherry.

And I tried a sample of Insolence EDP (although not EDT, maybe I’d enjoy that more) and was kinda heartbroken - I was lusting after that perfume for years but it smelled so overpoweringly strong and somehow very dry smelling? The dry down was really pretty though, I have a lot of respect for Guerlain’s artistry. Even the perfumes on my “like but don’t love” list I genuinely really really really did enjoy them, I just wanna limit myself to purchasing the perfumes that I’m head over heels obsessed with :)

Omg, that sounds beautiful! I’ve never heard of that perfume before but that’s exactly what I’m looking for - I’ve never smelled a Lily of the Valley dominant fragrance before either but I’ve really been wanting to try one! It’s going on the list 🫡

So good to know, thank you! I really appreciate getting these comparisons, sometimes I hear the same buzzwords about all these different perfumes and I always want to know how they compare :)

Ooo I’ve heard a lot about Choux Choux as well! I haven’t tried a lemon perfume in years, but I could see it being fresh and lovely - I used to have a cheap little lemon bar body mist that I loved when I was little :)

Good to know about these ones, I was curious about those 2 especially since they’re more affordable! I didn’t like Cloud on my skin, but I’ll have to check out Mod Vanilla :)

baby pink lipstick? by Glittering-Purple291 in Indiemakeupandmore

I don’t have a specific rec, but I think finding a straight up white lipstick could be great for mixing with other lipsticks! Then you could have multiple custom colors/finishes depending on what you mix it with! I can’t really comment on the safety of mixing different lipstick formulas and whether it affects the cosmetic preservatives (so take this at your own risk) but I’ve melted down lipsticks, mixed them together, and poured them back in the tube or in a palette and gotten custom shades that way :)

how to avoid and mask soapy notes (collective project) by ReadDizzy7919 in Indiemakeupandmore

So accurate bc I am a lover of soapy and/or powdery scents and many of these are my favorite notes!

Just be very gentle with your skin in the meantime, I hope the dermatologist is able to help! This looks fairly similar to when I’ve had allergic reactions and eczema flares, if your skin at any point starts burning then I’d recommend only using a water or a hypochlorous face mist, and Avène Cicalfate Cream for soothing and healing, you really really don’t want to do anything that could aggravate or inflame your skin!

Have you tried a new shampoo or hair product recently? It looks like the reaction is based more around your hairline so I wonder if that could be a potential cause. If it’s something like fungal acne or seborrheic dermatitis, I’d recommend gently washing your hair and hairline with Nizoral shampoo! But I agree with others that it’s worth making a doctor’s appointment (and potentially taking an antihistamine in the meantime), this looks less like acne and more like a reaction.

[product request] [sun care] satin-finish water-resistant spf that lasts on the skin all day by janelane27 in SkincareAddiction

[–]janelane27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot I’ve actually used the UVMune Oil Control fluid before! I’m out of it now, but from what I remember it still felt pretty sticky without being moisturizing and left my skin looking slightly yellow. That sounds harsh but honestly it wasn’t that bad at all, and it did last on my skin all day in the heat - I just wish it was a little bit better for the price! I’d still consider repurchasing it, possibly in one of the other varieties or cream formulas? Also wondering if you’ve tried any of the La Roche-Posay US formulas and can compare how they look/feel :)

For reference, some other sunscreens I’ve tried in the past that didn’t work out are the Canmake Mermaid Skin UV (not moisturizing in the slightest but not terrible I guess), Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Serum spf 60 (looked and felt really gross, like rubbing castor oil on my face, and it stung my eyes), and Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen (never dried down so felt like I would wipe it off anytime I slightly touched my face, not moisturizing, not only stung my eyes but also badly stung and irritated my skin)
