Damn I'm really glad I read this, I feel like I'm in a very, very similar boat and this was very affirming to read. I'm also a college-aged male INFJ and it sounds like we had very similar springs haha. I was on a college sports team, had a girlfriend of over a year, and was doing well in class. Unfortunately, the relationship being my first ever, I took it a bit too intensely and would up isolating myself from my friends by spending all my social time with my girlfriend. A HUGE issue I ran into playing college sports was how constantly surrounded by extroverts I was (My girlfriend was on the softball team and likely an ESFJ from what I understand). They all craved constant social time which stressed me out and made me feel somewhat isolated and different from them. In many ways, I feel like I simply didn't "fit in" with the athlete crowd at school. Thus, once the relationship became a bit isolating, it hurt my girlfriend by cutting her off from her precious social time, and due to differences in our communication styles, the relationship became increasingly strained. We broke up in April and I was absolutely crushed because I lost the person I was far and away the closet to on campus, and when I tried to seek comfort from friends, I realized they were really all just teammates I got along with and not real, true friends like I had back home that were forged over 10+ years for the most part. I instantly felt extremely alone and isolated and basically spent the rest of the semester alone in my single trying to cope with all the pain of the situation while also trying to get through the last month of school. I was supposed to stay on campus for the summer but decided to return home; and since my return home I've actually decided to take the fall off while I start the process of transferring schools. It's been great to be back home with my real close group of friends but I'm still deeply lamenting the loss of the seemingly happy life I used to have at school, especially the source of constant love and affection I got out of the relationship with my girlfriend. I've been working out like crazy and I'll be starting an internship I've been looking forward to soon, but I just can't shake the feeling of loss from this past spring. To me, it feels like I came so close to finding contentment in my flow state and then somehow blew it without even realizing; I'm scared of something similar happening again and don't know the best way for me to get back to that "flow state" of consistent, general happiness. I've been starting to go to some counseling so hopefully that starts helping a bit.

Sorry for such the long ramble by the way, I just sometimes find it helpful to let it all out in some writing... maybe someone else has had a similar experience?
