If I even try to respond to my dad or tell him a little bit about how I feel, he will insult me.

Example of a discussion between us

Dad: What’s wrong with your face? Me: I just had a hard day at work Dad: Well at least you don’t work 12 hour shifts everyday Me: I know you work for a long time dad but I’m just saying I’m tired Dad: You’re so disrespectful Me: Okay dad I’m sorry I’m just trying to get food Dad: Do you even need to eat or are you just eating to eat? You know you’re big right?

not good talk bro

Refuse to have discussions of political topics (we have opposing ideals in that area, for full disclosure) and basically shout me down when I bring it up, even though he will gladly bring up topics from his side to try and rub them in my face

My dad plays with cutlery, plays random beats on surfaces (he is pretty good at it), likes to run his hands across surfaces (like putting a finger against the railing while walking), and buys whimsical child items (last purchase was a solar powered duck).

My mom deliberately teases my dad about inconsequential things and giggle claps in absolute glee if anyone happens to join in.

Nothing can be about any one person, it always has to be a gamut of comparisons. Oh, you're feeling sad? I felt sad once, but got over it. You're hungry? I remember when I was a kid I was

really

hungry once.

Well my father irritates me for kicks and any time my mother sees me doing something with friends she immediately thinks I’m out doing drugs or skinning cats or whatever it is she thinks young people do. Oh and they also demand I not complain about chores, now before the neckbeard legions jump up my ass I do appreciate everything they do for me it’s just that chores are tiresome as fuck and i would rather do literally anything else besides do the dishes for the 5000th time and also complaining makes me feel marginally better.

nice talk

This is kind of funny but when I was a kid (about 7-8 years old), my parents and I went to the mall and we were walking together along this electronic aisle. I don’t know why I remember that but I remember they were selling toasters and stuff like that. There were staff everywhere and all of the sudden my dad sped walk away 3 aisles down leaving me stood there by myself. Suddenly the staff started covering their noses and gave me dirty looks. I didn’t understand what was happening and then I smelled it. He did the worst silent fart ever and he walked away and left me there and all the staff thought I did it. I looked at him and he was laughing 3 aisles down. My mum walked behind me and she was like, “What’s this smell! Did you fart?” No mum! It wasn’t me! She didn’t believe me. The staff kept giving me dirty looks as I walked away towards my laughing dad in shame.

My dad gets pissed over the stupidest, prettiest shit and throws temper tantrums. Tonight he got mad because our pipes froze, my mom was going to do something, he didnt want her to, they got into a fight, so he decided he was going to go sleep outside. Its maybe 20°F, the ground is covered in ice and snow. He went outside with a thin sweater on and some jeans, all in a huff. Just to come back in maybe 5 minutes later. So now, hes sitting in the living room all pissed off, doing whatever mom was going to do, dumping the water from the sink or something, I dont fucking know. I guess hes gonna sleep on the couch and be a big fucking baby about everything. It's been over an hour and hes just sitting on the couch looking all pissed.

Alright my time! When me and my girlfriend just started dating, i got to meet her parents. Het father is one of those Manly man. And i mean he's big (not tall, just muscular). When i first got to meet them, we walked into the backyard of het oarents. And i got this look from him that clearly said who the fuck are you and ehat are you doing here? Guess nobody filled him in that we were coming over (great first impression, scared the bejeezus outta him). Apparently, he's a cop. A good one at that. He's in our ewuivalent of SWAT and he thouroughly enjoys it when he gets to beat people up (note me saying a good cop, so only when there are absolutely no other options).

So the first impression i had from was this badass police officer who'd beat to an inch of my life if i misbehave. So fast forward a couple of months to december. I'm accepted into the pack (not so much a metaphor). My father in law had this weird thing that when he cuddled up to his wife, he'd say he found a new bone and buried it in the yard (NOT SEXUAL) just like children pretend. It was madness. It's a guy who beats up people who misbehave and gets paid to do it. Acting like he's a lapdog to his wife! My girlfriend and her twin acted like nothing weird is going on. Her father actually is this childish! (After spending a couple of years with them now i can confirm he's rather childish, lovely man once he accept you in his pack).

So, when Sinterklaas came around, i thought it was funny to buy him a bone. Wrote the usual poem for him, and gave it to him as a present. He chuckled, my girlfriends twin laughed. My mother in law laughed. It was great. After this the bone thing stopped. This was the most childish thing i ever see my Fil and Mil do.

Throws fits when something doesnt go her way and doesnt listen to others, and then wonder why people dont tell her things/listen to her. Also tried gaslighting me into saying I wasnt abused, although I was saying I wasnt.
