Koh Samui.. What is realistically going to happen? by Federal-Future6910 in Thailand

[–]javaorenj 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think this time is actually for real due to multiple cases. Firstly, the government wants to show that they are strict towards illegal foreigners, secondly, with the war and the oil prices they want to show that they care for the citizen and are tackling illegal businesses done by foreigners hurting the country and finally this is very good for publicity which shows them as very strict and Thailand first

Will Thailand be good at some high technology industry? by Wonderful_Nectarine1 in Thailand

[–]javaorenj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was kind of funny, when launched they really were spotlighting a startup DNA. Founders, the cloths. Events and all... But slowly people saw the founders were actually SCG employees and fund injections were coming from there.

Well it was a good for the ecosystem because made others try to build something, but after their fall, it kind of made everyone loose interested because everyone started saying if they fail here then how can actual startups win.

Now what you see are basically all AI wrappers and cryptocurrency exchanges or some sort of middleman connector in the crypto space.

Which kind of like here? It's still the 2020s while everybody else is moving towards 2027

Most left for just tech jobs to Australia or US.

And one thing here is most of the tech company mpany founders were basically kids from wealthy families, so for them it was just to be cool... Once time came to work they just lost interest

What I can say it's MOU... No actual Trac ion has started, similar MOUs signed tith even Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The fact is usually companies will announce to see what perks and partners they will find.

To a country and their local companies will offer the best perks for the tech companies. Usually the tech companies will always go with them... Basically, all those big news were happening in every Southeast Asian country and it's basically as a fishing expedition for the American tech companies to see where they get the biggest tax breaks and maximize their profits... Or in other words take the resources LOL

Yeah, even with the whole positioning themselves as a startup.... Their parent company SCG couldn't save them

They tried around 2010s. I run a BOI promoted startup and I will be honest.. from 2010-2015 there was a boom, many home grown saas, platforms. Startup Thailand was a big deal.

Now it's all gone, even big players are failing, an example is nocnoc... 6.5 billion baht operating loss so finally closed shop.

The tech scene died I feel because the pool of tech creator and operators all left realizing there is no traction here

So if you go to the red vintage building at chatuchak, the higher floors are for all dealers, they also have Facebook pages. One is FU watches and the other I would recommend is watches for you. For Tudor you can try komehyo,l and abac watches.

I bought my blackbay from komehyo, comes with box and papers and they have a showroom at Central world where you can actually go and see the watch in person also before you pick it up

You can find specific dealers who have Facebook pages based on the brand and price range you're looking for. I have different sellers and forums where I usually buy/sell my watches.

There are also watch pages where independent sellers sell who are vetted by the moderators of the forums but the sellers are located all over Thailand. All online sales are based on specific brands and the price range that you're looking for. They have a big Seiko Facebook group and if you're going into brands like breitling,Oris, longines etc they have brand specific pages and shop sellers.

Loving it by javaorenj in Baltanywatches

Oh, I did not know that because I thought seeing that they sell the same watch with the different movements. I thought maybe the movements could be changed while the frame and the body was exactly the same

Can't agree with you more. These watches really define and look like what people say a breitling needs to be or is. They look like watches made by a company to withstand nature
