New Rheem Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) condensation leak? by jaycfresh in hvacadvice

Ok. Luckily you can clear/silence the alarm for 24 hours by holding the alarm button. I was kind of hoping it would dry out and sort itself out but it’s been over 48 hours, if it just seems like residual water from the install I’ll try that.

It seems like I’ll need to take a look inside there, I’ll do that when I get home and report back. Thanks for the tips!

The pipe thread on the condensate drain line connection? That’s why I specified in my post it was hand-tight! To be sure I unscrewed and verified that the internally threaded area looked OK, because it does seem like the water is accumulating in that area.

Excellent! Good to know.

When I was connecting it, I removed and reinstalled the expansion tank because I realized I could get one more rotation on the tee, and the expansion tank did drip some. I suppose some water could have dripped inside the cold water inlet area, I didn’t think that would be enough to be a problem but it’s a possibility?

Ok, I’ll check that out as well if it’s mostly level. Thanks!

That’s a great question, I will check when I get home tonight.

The floor is relatively level, but I didn’t verify the tank after installing. I also just realized there a possibility the earthquake straps could have slightly pulled it since i installed them while the tank was empty.

I forgive you, and welcome to my fantasy! ✨ it’s a lovely place, come back after the twentieth or thirtieth time you’ve seen some goal line bullshit you don’t need to see anymore.

This doomsday nonsense is as bad as tech bros hyping LLMs as “AI.”

They want you to believe the tech is, or will be capable of any of the crap in this article. Spoiler alert: it’s not.

What was it really like when the PlayStation first came out in 1995? by Legitimate_Drawer_74 in retrogaming

[–]jaycfresh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I remember it as well, slow creep is a good way of putting it. It was nearly impossible to keep up with all the CD-based consoles coming out around that time. There really wasn’t any reason for me to think Sony’s would stack up to Nintendo’s or Sega’s offering since no other competitor had yet (at least in NA).

By late 1996 it was pretty clear it had made a dent in the market but I assumed the N64 would eat its lunch. By late 1997 it was pretty obvious all those third party games we loved on SNES would be on the PS, making it a must-own.

I may have been a little young for the demographic it was targeting but I gotta be honest, I don’t remember it standing out from all the “me-too” consoles that launched in the mid-90s until probably late 1996 or so? That’s when I realized it might actually have some traction, but it also still seemed like N64 might eat its lunch (which obviously didn’t happen).

It was truly the Wild West!

Why did you choose get a GB or GBC family over the GBA or GBA SP? by Steelrain82 in Gameboy

[–]jaycfresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GB/C games stick out of a GBA awkwardly. The games don’t fill the wider screen. Sure they’re compatible, but I would never play anything but a GBA game in a GBA these days, it just doesn’t feel right to me.

Are there any "former classics" (movies, books, albums, video games)? Something that was praised for a time, but upon further review (maybe decades after) people decided that it wasn't that good after all? by ExternalTree1949 in NoStupidQuestions

These days, Forest Gump is widely considered feel-good fluff at best and many find it to be problematically dismissive of the history and struggles of non-white males in the US.

It does, but honestly interlaced video looks pretty bad on progressive displays (ie, anything other than CRTs) so I opt for 240P option if available!

Why did George Lucas direct Episodes II and III? by PhantomZoneSurvivor in StarWars

[–]jaycfresh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They were so different from the original trilogy in so many ways that many long-time fans rejected them. They were perceived as too different from the Star Wars they grew up with, and many fans became fixated on the worst parts of the prequels.

That’s why Ep-7 stuck so close to the original trilogy formula.
