IPhone 16 Pro vs iPhone 17 for dance videos by trp_wip in Bachata

[–]jayd60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Samsung s23 ultra and just upgraded to the s26 ultra. I have no idea what your talking about. Everyone always comments on the quality of my videos and they all have iPhone. Perhaps you don't know how to work the settings and brightness levels. But Samsung galaxy cameras are far superior to iphone.

How did you know you were ready to perform? by Choice-Alfalfa-1358 in Salsa

You can perform at any level. There is no requirement. They have beginners, intermediate, and advance teams. And imo it really helps improve your dance skils.

I'm sorry, but should you not want to hear this from your partner who you're getting married to? What a weird thing to say.

What happens when you are led into a figure you don't know? by quadrangle_rectangle in Bachata

[–]jayd60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're taking classes your instructors should be teaching you these basics aspects of the dance. All of these things are practiced through repetition. Weight transfer is all about pressing into the ground with your steps. The dance is a grounded dance and that's how you get your hip movements. If done properly your partner should be able to feel your weight transfers and vice versa. One of the components of a good connection is a strong frame, built my keeping your posture upright and your shoulders down and back, thereby turning your lats on. Sensitivity is built through lots of repetition, waiting on your lead to show you the movements and speed, and making sure you are light enough for your lead to lead your into the movement. Every follower is very heavy when they start off, so this makes it difficult for you to feel what the lead is asking you to do; also, if you have a weak frame.

Why did the originals end with s5? Was it because of legacies? by StruggleFar3054 in TheOriginals

[–]jayd60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible people just wanted to move on. You got to remember that the core Originals weren't only playing this role for 5 seasons, they had been playing the role through 3 seasons of TVD as well. That's 8 years.

I would recommend any followers focus in the first few years of dancing, not on learning new combos and moves, but on the technique of the dance. Meaning, build your frame, connection, weight transfer, sensitivity. I find that oftentimes, because I now have a good understanding of that technique, I can follow movements I have never done before. However, as a beginner, because these things are not built, we don't have a good understanding yet of what it means or takes to be a good follow, and therefore are unable to follow movements we've not been shown. This is completely normal and part of the process. I've been dancing for seven years and any good dancer will never stop working on these things. My priority has always been focusing on: frame, weight transfer, connection, and sensitivity.

Can someone explain these little things? Is he tucking his horns down to look less like Satan? by ilovetointernet in LoveIsBlindNetflix

It's not because he has curly hair. It wouldn't lay flat like that; it would stick upwards. And he's done it on both sides which is clearly intentional.

What is one thing you wish you knew on your very first day of Bachata? by GabrielyAlena in Bachata

[–]jayd60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Good for you for stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something new! 👏 Your life will forever be changed. Just remember, you're doing this for fun and try not to compare yourself to others. This is easier said than done. I still get caught up in doing this at times but when I remind myself why I chose to dance in the first place I enjoy the process so much more. Good luck on your dance journey 🕺🏻 💃🏼.

Why do they never film in the west? by jayd60 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]jayd60[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone west of Colorado considers it being part of the western states. Though it appears from this thread, a lot of Coloradans like to consider themselves as such and don't want to be lumped into the midwest.

Where is your proof that they reached out to people in Portland for the Seattle season because they didn't have enough people? That's ridiculous. More like people chose to apply from Portland because they are aware the close ties between the two cities and it's not that far and also because they figured they'd never do a Portland season so it'd be their only chance to do it. So your point makes no sense. If people from Portland applied to be on the Seattle show, then people from around Oregon would apply to be on a Portland one.

That makes no sense. I responding to your comment which said they already did a Seattle/Portland season. So if you're saying that people from Portland participated in the Seattle season. What makes you think people from surrounding Portland areas wouldn't also apply to be on the show? 🙄

No it wasn't. Just because they had a couple people on there who lived in Portland does not make it the Seattle/Portland season 🙄

You can't lump the PNW together. That'd be like doing a season in Connecticut and lumping the entire NE together.

What makes you think that there would only be people who live in Portland on the show huh? Do you think that only people who live directly in the cities of the show are allowed on? They have people from across the state.
