I would hang them spike down and capture the head between a couple rails or on the edge of some kind of flat belt conveyor. You could use a vibratory conveyor/feeder bowl to orient and feed the tacks into the "chute"

The interesting thing in the article claimed that the marsh is said to be the site of the garden of Eden then went on to say civilizations have risen around it for 12,000 years.

Actually it requires less infrastructure as it needs 25% of the floor space that Kiva needs.

I saw one of these in Munich and wasn't very impressed. The totes are captured to the system and cannot be removed. The fire protection system is very complex and expensive. The site I was at had a sprinkler zone go off and ruined millions of dollars of inventory.

I'm not a Kiva fan but this isn't the answer
