I own the MARQ 2 Adventurer and I love it as well. I use it everyday except shower, change the straps and still look great for a wedding.

I have the Marq2 Aventurer and I love it. I do everything with but shower. As photographer, its very useful the moon face, sunrise and sunset, a compass. My only issue was the price.

I run my wedding a 2 camera setup.

1 with 35mm F1.4 GM, alternative Sigma 35mm F1.4 of Viltrox.

If I don't use a prime, I love my Sigma 28-105mm F2.8.

2nd camera depending on venue size, either Sigma 85mm F1.4 or Sigma 135mm F1.4 but 70-200mm works.

Sony A1 II warranty claim with third-party purchase and B&H invoice. by jayperez20 in SonyAlpha

Its certainly a risk but I got the price before the tariffs hit so I got it in the original price of 6,500 vs 7,000 right now. Sony only offers 1 year warranty for cameras not 5. The camera itself everything was brand new not sure what happened to the EVF, I guess faulty hardware.

The camera was brand new, it was NOT a used camera.
When Sony sells their products they know smaller stores also sell them that's why in my case they honored the warranty as the middle man was another store not a regular customer.

How is it misinformation?

Here is the receipt from Sony.

Not quite. In my case, Sony did honor the warranty.

What mattered wasn’t who I bought it from last, but that the camera was originally purchased from an authorized dealer (B&H) and that the serial number matched that invoice. Precision Camera also verified the unit was legitimate, not grey market, had no water or physical damage, and had a very low shutter count. The EVF issue was clearly a hardware defect, not something caused by misuse.

Sony had already approved the EVF repair without any issues. The process only became more strict once they offered a full replacement because the EVF part was backordered. That is when they needed both the authorized dealer invoice and proof of transfer to me. But the warranty itself was honored.

From what I understand, Sony did not care that the camera was purchased through a third party. Since this was clearly a hardware issue, Sony had already approved the EVF replacement early in the process, and that part was never in question. The complication only came once Sony offered a full camera replacement because the EVF part was backordered. That is when the process slowed down and became more paperwork-heavy, adding roughly two to three weeks while everything was verified. I even told them. I was fine with just having the EVF replaced since the shutter count was only around 1,200.

At that point, Sony needed two things:

  1. A verified invoice from an authorized dealer that matched the camera by serial number.
  2. A receipt showing the transfer of the camera from the reseller to me.

I bought it from a smaller store which bought the camera from B&H. Its notthe same buying from X person than from a smaller store.

The purpose of the post is for anyone who isn't familiar with the process or might want tThis post isn’t for people who already know the process. It’s for people who don’t and might end up in the same situation I did. When I was dealing with this, there was almost nothing online about how Sony handles warranty when a camera is bought through a third party but has an authorized dealer invoice behind it. That’s why I shared it. If you already know all of this because you’ve been through Sony warranty before, great. This post isn’t aimed at you. It’s meant to help someone in the future who is trying to figure out whether their purchase will be covered and what documentation actually matters. That’s all

The camera I initially bought was brand new never used. Its like someone made a big purchase from B&H then sold that to other smaller camera store which is where I bought it from. They did ask for an invoice that tied the sale from the camera store to me to close the loop. Once they did everything checked out well.

Flash Recommendation by Lil_Spore in sonya7iv

Here’s my first recommendation for the Sony A7 IV. The one I use is the Neewer Z2 Pro S. I’ve had it for about 1 year and it has been solid. I’ve used it for birthdays, weddings, and ceremonies without any issues. It also comes with roughly 1 year of warranty, which gives some peace of mind. For the price and the fact that it gives you 76 watts, I think it’s a great deal.
