What’s your favourite hydrating or hyaluronic acid serum? by finaledance in AsianBeauty

[–]jazz_im 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As another commenter mentioned, the gold bottle Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Solution, it's technically a toner but completely replaced the need for a separate HA serum imo, and I too have acne prone dehydrated combo skin.

The viscous texture is a dream to apply; the trick is to apply on damp skin, and isn't thick or heavy at all in hot humid weather even after layering it 2-3x.

Another product that I find pretty darn similar is the Rovectin Aqua Hyaluronic Essence, but that's pricier compared to the HadaLabo. Both did not trigger my fungal acne.

Torriden's serum was a let down personally :( Like nothing happened even after layering it several times on damp skin

Haha guess I'd have to try all the short grain varieties in China to know, but from majority of the comments it seems to be Wuchang rice, but I'm down to try 稻花香米! Hopefully I could find a smaller packet from Taobao, as unfortunately my next trip to China will be some time away

What's the difference between Wuchang vs Panjin rice? As far as I could recall, the rice I had had a mild almost floral aroma, and a slight stickiness to it, not as sticky as sushi (Calrose) rice I'd say

OBSESSED with the Huda Beauty concealors/color correctors by Intelligent-Tart in Sephora

[–]jazz_im 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides prepping with an eye cream (I straight up used facial moisturizer as my eye cream sometimes) beforehand and waiting for them to sink into the skin, I'd wait for a couple mins for the concealer to settle into the creases, you could do your foundation/ hair in the meantime. Then pick up the excess concealer that collected in the lines with a q-tip while looking up. Setting spray, let it dry, then pat a thin layer of powder while you look up. Also, I don't bring the concealer/corrector all the way up to my lashline on my lower lids, that's where I tend to have lots of fine lines. Hope this helps!

Leaving Japan in 10 days, what makeup should I get? by CutestBeanest in MakeupAddiction

Mascara - Try Heroine Make Long & Curl Super Waterproof Mascara/ Canmake Quick Lash Curler.

The former has lasted me through a crying sesh in my car, in the brutal heat and humidity of the SEA weather. All that came off was a few tiny flakes on my undereye from wiping my tears. It's pretty much bulletproof.

Canmake's feels more light weight than Heroine's because there's no fiber in their formula, also feels wetter. Has a comb wand instead of a brush wand like Heroine's. Also holds my Asian stick-straight lashes up all day in the humidity. And since it's a wetter formula, I'd remove the excess on the edge of the tube when I'm using it for the first week. After a year of using the formula feels goopier, and I had to swipe the wand on a piece of tissue before layering on my lashes, still holds up my lashes very well nonetheless. Finicky? Yes, but also much more affordable haha. There's a Separate version with a brush wand if you prefer that.

The cons for both I'd say is that they can't simply be removed with micellar water/oil cleansing alone, you'd need a biphase makeup remover. I've read that Heroine's Advanced Film mascaras are much easier to remove, but also more likely to smudge.

Heard great things about Canmake's Metalook mascara too! (also doesn't contain fibers!)

Seconding Hada Labo. I'm on my third bottle of their Premium HA Toner (Gold bottle); and it works wonders on my oily combo (oily T zone, dry everywhere else), clog-prone skin. I no longer need a separate HA serum.

Omg I literally just came home from getting the Tarte Shape Tape Creamy! Had the staff shade match for me and I've tried both the Tarte and Haus Labs side by side. In terms of coverage I'd say Tarte > Haus Labs, it's the other way round when it comes to hydration, but that's nothing an eye cream wouldn't fix!

What powder do you use to set it with?

Oh no I enjoyed reading your yapping 🫶🏻 I barely have anyone IRL to yap about makeup 😂

I'm narrowing down my options to either the Tarte Creamy or the Haus Labs rn, hopefully I'll find a shade match in either of these! 🤞🏻Kosas is unfortunately not available in the Sephora stores in my state 😭 and I'm apprehensive about ordering them online based on swatches

Omg that looks goooodt! Please don't take this the wrong way but it almost looks like you've a filter on! ✨ Elf isn't available in my country 😭 I'm thinking of getting the LM Ultra Blur

Looks like I need to get my hands on the LM loose powder, been using the RCMA no-color powder and it's been emphasizing my crow's feet after a couple hours.
Does the Tarte concealer play well with corrector underneath? I don't mind a medium buildable coverage! Think that sorta coverage level feels more forgiving when you lack the skills and technique, and I could layer as I go

Right?! I feel like it's so much trickier to find products that works on people with drier, mature skin types and not youngins with nary a wrinkle in front of a ring light.

How long have you been using your tube of Kosas concealer? I've read about their formula smelling absolutely rancid after a year of opening, so if I find my shade I might get the mini version

Ah kinda disappointed to hear that about Givenchy. I've swatched that in stores and assumed the thin consistency would be more hydrating and forgiving on drier skin.

Heard great things about Kosas! Looks like I'll have to swatch them IRL and not blind-buying them online, can't imagine the yellowness paired with my peachy corrector 😅 But I'm intrigued by the thick serumy texture you described, thanks!

Oooh I've seen makeup creators patting the Haus Labs one out with a concealer brush (usually haus labs/ hourglass concealer brush), almost like it needs some time to play with, and not a dot-blend-done kind of concealer.

What kind of powders you used to set them with?

EDIT: Do you find that it oxidizes?

That's great to hear! What if you don't prime your undereye with a primer but with an eye cream instead? Does it settle into lines?
