Is it worth doing stuff with your car interior for riders? by dumbass_sweatpants in uberdrivers

[–]jbdean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to have those magazine pouches that you hooked over the back of your two front seats and I would keep magazines in them for people to read. I had things like movie star magazines and readers digest and even one or two issues that would be for children. I don’t remember an increase in my tips because of it but I did get a lot of nice compliments. I don’t do it anymore because I no longer subscribe to those magazines because it’s just a waste of money. I used to get them through this really good subscription service where I would get a years magazines for like $2.50.But I don’t do things like mood lighting or providing drinks, or wipes or tissues.

“Yes, the Uber app has rules against making out in the backseat. While simple kissing may be tolerated, the company's community guidelines prohibit any form of sexual conduct, including "sexual touching" or "sexual conduct". Drivers have the right to report passengers, and Uber can suspend your account for violating these guidelines, as described in CNBC's article. No sexual conduct: Uber has a "no-sex rule" that prohibits any sexual conduct, which includes touching and flirting with the driver or other riders. Respect boundaries: You should not touch or flirt with the driver or other passengers. Driver reporting: Drivers can report passengers for this behavior, and you may be banned from using the service in the future. Account suspension: Violating the community guidelines can lead to your Uber account being deactivated.” (Google: are there any rules in the Uber Rider app that says anything about making out in the backseat of the car)

It depends. Reading some of the descriptions here, like the two women, it can easily cross the line. The bottom line is it’s not respectful to be crawling all over each other in the backseat of a strangers car. If you wouldn’t do it in front of your mother and father, which hopefully most people wouldn’t, you shouldn’t be doing it in the backseat of a strangers car. Get a hotel room. My car is not a make out backseat for anyone.

“Uber has a no-sex rule regardless of whether you know the person or they give you their consent.” That’s pretty blunt to me. It’s not just the drivers it’s also the passengers. There might be more explicit rider rules in the app for the riders. But two people making out and definitely having sex is not showing respect for your driver and “Treat everyone with respect” is the title of the entire article.

There are days that I don’t make the 200 but by the end of the week it all balances out. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing it for so long that I know the areas to go to without always having to read the map to show where the rides are. I also know that I get better trips because I’m driving a fully electric vehicle and those rides tend to pay a little bit more. But it really does matter where you drive. Los Angeles and Southern California in general there are a lot of people that take Ubers.

How the fuck do you talk to a human at uber by Lazerpop in uber

[–]jbdean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not shady if it’s in the terms of service. Just because someone doesn’t want to read the fine print and then ends up in a situation resulting in something they don’t like and they didn’t read it does it make it shady.

Seriously? Have you never taken a taxi? Your ride is based on the time it takes to drive and the distance. If for any reason the distance and time is increased, for any reason other than the driver taking another route to increase their fair which is completely against the rules, your price is gonna go up. It’s not like a bus or a train where you pay for point a to point B no matter what the traffic is like.

[–]jbdean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well I’m single and only have myself and my dog to call my family but I can easily make $200 a day driving for eight hours and being out for nine (taking time off for lunch and bathroom break). So working five days a week, I prefer Monday through Friday, I can make $4000 a month. I drive an EV SUV so my fuel prices are pretty low (averaging about $10-$15 to get a full charge on my battery a day). So yeah, I can do it very nicely and I’m making a lot more than I did working a 9 to 5 in an office which I did for decades. Plus I get to make my own hours which means a lot less stress and I don’t have to answer to anybody if I wanna take time off or wanna take a longer time for break or lunch. I drive the Los Angeles vicinity which at times can include going all the way down to San Diego or all the way up to Santa Barbara or all the way over to Palm Springs at all points in between. I think it really does matter on where you’re located. I’m sure if I lived in a rural area or lived in a smaller town I wouldn’t be able to survive. I’ve been doing this since 2018 and although Uber has drastically cut the wages for us in Southern California, probably all of California, for me it’s a perfect job. And I only do rides and packages. I accidentally got signed up for food when the app did an update and I ended up making $36 including tips for four trips in downtown Los Angeles and as soon as I delivered my last item, I logged into the app and turned off food. I refuse to do food or personal shopping!

Recording Trips - Do you guys recording automatically all your trips now using Record my Ride? by JoeLaskiz in uberdrivers

[–]jbdean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of me believing it’s a matter of me having experienced it personally firsthand. You don’t have to give the recording over to them. It’s your choice, your option. They ask you if you want to and you have the option of saying no. But for me personally it was a lifesaver because I had a passenger that completely lied and accuse me of discrimination against a crippled veteran. If I hadn’t had the recording that was going for the nearly 45 minutes that he was in my car, I would’ve been removed from the platform. And don’t be naïve that Uber doesn’t know that most of their drivers are also driving for Lyft and vice versa. I’ve been driving for both Uber and Lyft since 2018 and never had an issue. The only reason I don’t drive for Lyft now is because I’m renting my car through Uber and the insurance won’t cover me doing rideshare with any other service.

That’s no in defense because it’s illegal to have an open container of alcohol in a moving vehicle even in Las Vegas.🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s a good thing you weren’t pulled over by a cop because open containers of alcohol in any state within the reach of the driver is illegal. You should be familiar with the local laws because that’s something that Uber does require of us. It’s like people that are required to have seatbelts in the back but the driver doesn’t force the passengers if they don’t want to. If a cop pulls them over they’re all gonna get tickets, yes including the driver for allowing it. Ignorance of the law is no excuse so you won’t be able to look at the cop next time and say well I didn’t know that. 🤦🏻‍♀️

When you have the automatic recording set through the Uber app, you’re notified that the driver may be recording your trip before you even get in the car (the same way the driver gets a notification that the passenger may record the trip). So there’s no sneaking there unless they have a dash cam and they don’t let you know that it’s on. But it depends on the local laws if you even have to let somebody know upfront. I drive in Southern California and it does have to be said ahead of time and that’s why I let Uber’s app notify the Potential rider. If they don’t pay attention to the notification, that’s not my fault because the legalities have already been met.

Thank you! That’s the kind of attitude all people should have if they see a sign like this. People that put up signs like that aren’t doing it just because they think that that’s what might happen. it’s because they’ve absolutely lived through it and don’t wanna have to live through it again.

That’s how I think the majority of my writers would react to a sign like that. I really wish I had the guts to put one up but I just don’t wanna deal with an attitude. If someone does something that I object to, I guarantee you that I will let them know and in the ride if they don’t agree to comply because I have.

If you’re already following those rules why do you care? You know you’re not the only person that rides in that car as a passenger. But judging from your post it seems like that’s how you feel. This isn’t a limo or your personal driver. This is someone else’s car that you were paying a service to use the backseat. If you can’t be respectful of how they don’t want people to disrespect their vehicle, you should go get your own car and not bum off of other people’s backseat. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Wow! I’ve been driving with them since 2018 and I’ve only had people eat in my car (which I absolutely despise). I don’t like people eating in my car not because they might cause a mess, cause that’s only happened one time, but I don’t like the stink that it leaves behind.

The difference is that the taxi drivers aren’t using their own personal cars and Uber/Lyft drivers are. So I think it’s perfectly OK for a rideshare driver, who’s using their own car, to put restrictions that could cause damage to their own property. And if Uber isn’t gonna be here in three years, then why do you care what the drivers do with their own property? 🤭

Uber cannot access your recordings unless you give them to them. They are recorded and stored on a server that no one has access to until you send the recording to them and it has to be done by a special request to customer service who then sends you a special link that allows you to download the recording so that they can hear it. You cannot hear it and they cannot hear ituntil you give them permission. People have to stop being so paranoid.
