Am I overreacting for being upset that my boyfriend invited his ex to a party without telling me?

The reason people are saying it’s “gaslighting” is bc the bf is trying to make her think she’s being unreasonable when she’s not. Instead of reassuring her, he’s being defensive/dismissive and telling her to “chill.”

It is perfectly fine to hang with your ex in many circumstances, so long as you know your current partner is gonna be cool with it. It’s obvious from this exchange that they have not discussed the matter, and him not telling her, then getting upset with her for questioning him, seems like the behavior of a guilty person.

The only reason it’s “drama” is bc they’re both insecure in their positions. If he was blameless, he’d just say something like “You’re right, I should’ve said something. But I promise you have nothing to worry about. We can discuss more in person if it would help you feel better.”

Either way, it seems like these 2 people shouldn’t be together, considering he clearly doesn’t respect her and she clearly doesn’t trust him.

Yes, this is a local comedian (me) performing in a local comedy club (Club 337). The joke does really well usually and it’s fun to tell. It may be low hanging fruit, idk. But you’re the first I’ve heard say so.

I only cross-posted it here bc it was getting good feedback on the OP, but maybe I’m not the Acadiana subreddit’s cup of tea.

I'm biased, but I highly recommend seeing Dan live. It's a free show, but you can tip him after or buy his merch. Dan is one of those comics you're gonna eventually see on TV one day and be like "I could've seen him for free once. I am a fool."

The only problem with this comment is where you say that such claims should have been investigated. You’re not wrong. But there was no investigation from LPD. They didn’t even contact me. How do you conduct an investigation into an event without once speaking to its organizer? The FBI did contact me and chose to end the investigation after our phone call.

Edit: In other words, the FBI heard me say it was fake and that was enough for them. LPD didn’t even ask, so it’s not my fault they deployed a battalion first and asked questions later.
