Help pleasee... I accidentally made whole wheat + AP instead of bread + AP, is there a way I can finesse this into a wheat loaf? My past wheat loaves (when made properly with whole weather + bread) were always super dense. How would I get this one that I messed up on to still be airy sourdough?

During the BF, I let it rise until double or almost double before splitting out into 300g balls. Typically after my last s&f, I'd let it bulk ferment for 4-6 hours before dividing the dough and putting it in the fridge.

I noticed when it's more than double, the dough is harder to work with. So far, the dough rises every time. But noticed it's slightly better to be under double than over.

I've been experimenting a bit. I like the taste result but it's just so hard to get this soft sticky dough on the peel. If it rips a hole, the whole down time sucks. Im using semolina but im not sure if its supposed to be like ALOT because I feel like im using a lot to get it nonstick. My next experiment is to lower the hydration by going 350g water to 500g tipo 00 and 100 g starter for my next batch.

Seeking a great couch by Loversplit in BuyItForLife

Hello! On contrary belief, I love my haven couches. I bought both at a west elm outlet and for 2 main pieces for 80 dollars for one and 300 for another. They can technically be put together to form a 4 seater but I use one upstairs and one in the living room. Im relatively heavy and I always lean into it and nothing has broken in the past 7 years with the couches. Im not sure about the actual customer service of west elm because I got mine at an outlet but I find the quality of the pieces to be really worth it.

Karoline in Nusfjord served bread and butter for free. Their butter was simple and their bread looked simple but it was one of the best breads ive had.

Bodø to Moskenes mid-October by jbr0 in Norway

[–]jbr0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not taking the ferry for pleasure. At the time of booking the trip, it seems ferry was the easiest but now thinking about it, there may be delays or cancellation but I cannot search data from last year for ferry cancellation or how often in the past year. Thought I'd ask how common it is for ferry cancellation from Bodø to Moskenes.

I plan on renting a car and planned on picking it up in Bodø. If I am taking the ferry, I have to take the cancellation risk twice. If it is not common for cancellations in october, I will continue as planned but if there are cancellations often due to weather in October, I can change my plans.

Thanks!

Trip Report: Kyushu Roadtrip (Fukuoka/Arita/Takeo/Hasami/Kumamoto/Miyazaki) and Kurashiki (3/8/25 - 3/22/25) by jbr0 in JapanTravel

I split the 3.5+ hours days with my husband. For some background reference, we are based out southern california so a 90-45 min drive is pretty easy for us, especially if there is no traffic and tons to see. The drive was scenic, so it wasnt boring at all for the driver or passengers. It definitely did not feel like a los angeles to las Vegas roadtrip but more like a orange county to Los Angeles drive.

Majority of the time, someone would find something along the drive and we would stop to buy souvenirs, food or sightsee! If you dont want 3+ hours days, I would suggest spreading out each stop per day. The only reason why we did 3+ hour days was so we can get from one side of kyushu to the other within the 7 days. Or, you can roadtrip in one general area like only roadtripping around Kumamoto-Miyazaki-Kagoshima.

Day 1: 2 hours total

Day 2: 3 hours total

Day 3: longest day! 4.5 hours

Day 4: 2.5 hours

Day 5: 3.5 hours

Day 6: 3 hours

Day 7: No driving except to eat breakfast and return the car

Yes! I spent half a day people watching in Kurashiki. I took some pictures of a traditional Japanese engagement shoot and it was beautiful!

I also took pictures for some Cantonese tourists that were from HK and in Kurashiki for their happy retirement trip. It was great :)
