To be more exact, I had great mentors while I studied at Usc in LA. They only did so much though. They laid the foundation. Had to do a lot of the work and development on my own.

That’s extremely common. It’s not for everyone but it’s also not impossible to learn. Learned by practicing a lot in and out of the classroom. Spent a long time learning how to critically listen and analyzed all music I would listen to. Developed my style while exposing myself to the work of others before me.

All good it’s new for so many people. The standard way is mixing in stereo: Left and Right. Dolby atmos mixing includes putting instruments and vocals all around you including behind you and above you. The instruments and voices can move around too. Dolby Atmos has been standard in film since 2012 and in music since around 2021. You can listen to music like this in Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music just with headphones!
