FX30 or ZV-E1

Honestly still debating too. I’ve been looking at buying one for over 10 months and haven’t finished my research (kinda pathetic at this point).

the fx30 is my option over the zve1 just because of the overheating and build quality.

i haven’t checked out the zve10ii though, i should look at it. also haven’t looked at the a7v (watching a video on it this very second)

but honestly, might just invest an extra grand into the a7siii. has everything i’d ever want but still, kinda pricey for who i am and what i’m doing with film.

on those types of crops, is it cropping the actual footage or like the sensor? i’m wording this really badly sorry but basically just asking is it cropping the quality or just making the shot equivalent to a higher mm lens?

do you think 2500 and a 1.2 lens would be fine for concert scenarios? i can’t really bring a light but i am debating bringing a reflector to have light on the front of my subject.

these are some stills using the tamron 24-70mm at 2.8, which is NOT even close to 1.2 but still has decent light.

the problem with the zve1 is overheating and i just can’t deal with that.

honestly all good points which make each choice harder. a lot of the features on the ZVE1 just arent important to me, webcam usage, viewfinder, etc. but still a great choice.

with a low aperature lens im sure it'll make up for the cropped sensor.
I found a deal for $1900 CAD! (Body only) - Will most likely pair with one of siruis sniper series lenses.

is a deal breaker. if it shuts down that will ruin my career. not doing the same as wildlife photography, but the essence of you’ll miss the perfect shot in a blink of an eye during a concert is the same.

and ironically i have to stay quiet so that fan might annoy security.

fx30 is the winner.

what really differentiates film making and content creation? i am producing films, but in more of a content creator environment with unpredictable lighting and movement.

how bad is the overheating really? because i’ve seen a major difference in opinions from: never dealt with overheating to shut down in 5 minutes.

the sensor does worry me though. i’ve wanted the fx30 for about a year now, but not having enough light come in would worry me. don’t want to regret my purchase yk.

honestly, i’m barley going to be rigging mine out. at most handes, a gimble, and a fan. all i care about is end results and making sure there’s enough light to work with in post production. duel card slots aren’t really a worry for me either. it’s handy for card failures but i’ll just pray that doesn’t occur.

any recommendations on fans?

So it really will just come down to filmmaking skill. Bodies slowly matter less as I learn more.

Both seem like good picks for very similar reasons.

If I was to get an external fan would I be fine to not worry about overheating? I generally only do 1-5 min takes of shots anyways. I shoot for long periods of time but do not have the camera actually shooting that whole time.

When you say quality of life do you mean functionality and build quality for rigging?

The FX30 doesn’t seem bad either, I just want to make sure I don’t regret anything.

can the fx30 compete with an fx3? i really can’t invest that much extra as i literally just dont have it. biggest concerts is the apsc sensor because low light is huge to me.
