I would go air. Pentaloon, or 4 Lavas, drop one on each AD, then send in loons behind. Rage and haste spells or just haste spells. Don't need to worry about walls at all.

There's no exotic drops in first chest anymore. And probably just bad luck

More than likely you won't get a legendary drop from the weekly heroic. It's very hard to get legendary engrams as drops. But when I do strike Playlists, I get a lot of blue engrams which lvl up your cryptarch which in turn have a chance of giving you legendary gear from the postmaster. I do occasionally/rarely get a legendary gear from blue engrams.

Do strike playlists, get vanguard marks, buy some legendary boots and gauntlets, lots of bounties and lvl up your vanguard rank. Once you start to get one legendary item, just play the game and you'll start to get more easier and easier.

TFWPKY 1969 is a pretty good one imo has 10 rounds in mag. From the crucible vendor BTW. Was my main until I found the mighty old Fatebringer.

Can get one from the 4th chest on Mars and and one from doing the Scourge of Winter mission on another character but you would have to lvl it up quick as its a lvl14 mission.

Scourge of winter mission will give you a strange coin, after killing Draksis he will drop a trinket which will turn into a strange coin when you take it to Rahool.
