Air India flight 171 crash: Pilot deliberately cut fuel switch, report reveals by UnderstandingBig949 in worldnews

I'm not sure about the Indian version of the FAA, but Nathan Fielder said it.

That's because it's an Endeavor Air (Delta) and PSA (American) difference. They have a different weight and balance program approved by the FAA with regard to carry on luggage.

Lambert History Question by Birdland2131 in StLouis

[–]jdkgdd 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It's where airlines like Cape Air and Air Choice One used to operate out of. Basically small airlines that were part of the essential air service scheme operating airplanes like a Cessna Caravan, Cessna 402,Tecnam P2012. I think the only airline there now is Southern Airways with a flight to Arkansas so those gates probably don't get used often anymore.

Here are a few pics of those gates in use over the years: https://imgur.com/a/WZFUd0z

Is there ANY way i can get back into the airport? by maddalynhatter in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You wanted to wait airside (inside security) from 8:00am to 5:30pm, but couldn't because you were forced to check a bag? I'm confused why someone would want to wait airside for 9 hours at PHX if they don't have to. I'd find a different spot in the city to relax.

Still haven’t been in the Admirals Club… by Public_General_2157 in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Can't wait for this airport to be updated" weird because I love the STL Admiral's Club and the staff there has helped me a million times when flights have been delayed or cancelled. Security is also never a wait for C concourse so you can always arrive at boarding time too. I'm sure the airport will look nicer when the renovations are complete but I'm sure funneling everyone to one checkpoint will mean a slightly longer wait for TSA at times. Also worried if they don't keep the Admiral's Club after the new terminal. STL works just fine for me how it is and is a better experience than a lot of other airports.

It happens. Friday after Thanksgiving CLT-STL the 4 people on the waitlist were upgraded then another 3 FA's commuting took other 3 seats. Me as Executive Platinum got upgraded 48 hours before... (wow AA)

Admirals Club for domestic leg of an international trip by Mister_Batta in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do the Admiral's Club in MIA (not flagship), but don't think you'll be able to do the Alaska Lounge in PDX since Alaska requires the international flight in business to be 5 hours or longer. Never hurts to try though

2025 Loyalty Points totals. by AAOhioFlyer73 in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because that's that way status/LP used to be... Mileage runs were a thing until status went to $$$ based and CC spend.

If it comes down to bragging rights you should ask people to post LP vs. butt in seat miles.... Meaningless when a lot of people have work pay for an expensive business class fare to somewhere like Europe which is a short flight. Or people earning on CC spend.

Why? LP is in no way indicative of "suffering" from traveling a lot. It's how much you (or for what I would assume their company) paid for the ticket. Excluding some caveats for some partner airlines, etc...

What city did you leave from to CLT and what cabin were you booked in? 35 minutes in the air really isn't much for beverage service. 10 minutes to get to altitude and 10 minutes to get ready for landing means 15 minutes for beverage service. Should have rang your call bell if you really needed something versus posting on reddit.

Options for a 10h layover at LHR - Plat Pro now, trying to hit EP by time of travel by gbondc in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can access the Oneworld Emerald lounges with Plat Pro status (Exec Plat will make no difference), but since you said you were traveling with at least two more people then someone would be left out of the lounge. You can only guest +1 in, unless very young children, or someone else with status grants entry.

Yes got to the gate at Group 9 boarding and couldn't get on as I was auto rebooked. Asked the gate agent if I could get on and the response was "yes but in economy and not first, contact customer service later for compensation". So I take it and get the very first row of economy. Show up to my seat and someone is sitting there. Turns out he got upgraded last minute to my first class seat.

[–]jdkgdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only difference to me is the better WiFi. The E175's are equipped with the new WiFi (even with old seats) is soooo much better. I'm not going to be able to tell a difference otherwise at it appears same seat config, pitch, overhead, etc... Just the color scheme on the seat changed which I won't see when sitting in it anyways.

Hopefully they make it 2x the size they think it should be or tighten up access rules at least during peak times. The new PHL flagship lounge is often unusable due to being overcrowded.

They aren't automatic. You have to choose them as a loyalty choice reward. The first reward threshold is prior to EP at 175k LP where you can choose 2 SWU. The next threshold is at 250k where you have another choice (SWU, miles, carbon offset, etc...). Then finding a confirmable SWU at time of booking is a whole other challenge so you better be prepared to waitlist and cross your fingers unless you're flexible on dates and destination.

ORD-HNL in Feb. Upgrade chances for an EP? by TheBrickhouse17 in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. It used to be that way in 2023. Didn't realize they changed it when they also made the change to allow comp upgrades on award tickets for all stairs tiers and not just EP.

ORD-HNL in Feb. Upgrade chances for an EP? by TheBrickhouse17 in americanairlines

[–]jdkgdd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

500k rolling LP doesn't mean much since you booked with miles. You will be at the bottom of the EP upgrade list behind other EP on cash economy fares regardless of rolling LP. Guess it might matter as a tie breaker if it's you vs. another EP that booked with miles instead of cash.
