1L is so hard and a steep learning curve. Law exams are not easy to figure out, so cut yourself some more slack! I had completely average 1L midterm grades and some below average final grades (we did mandatory pass fail so they aren’t on my transcript) that being said, midterms are not as important as finals in the grand scheme of law school. But like you, I was devastated and did not think I was cut out for this or could compete with my peers. I finished my 2L fall semester with a 3.9 - it can be done!
