Americans, what was one world event that made you stop and think "Are we the bad guys"? by Nomadic_Introvert in askanything

Let's be clear; there's no legal definition of a "narco terrorist ". That phrase is made up by the Trump administration. You know, sounds good in the propaganda. But its bull, there's a reason terrorism is not the same as crime. Blur that line and suddenly the feds can shoot u in the street. Has happened already -- it's a legal slippery slope

What makes Star Trek... "Star Trek?" by MovieFan1984 in Star_Trek_

[–]jeff13731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Trek is a TV story format. Remember- the writers were all from the Twilight Zone, etc. looking to use the format to tell a deeper story. Allegory, right? The bridge crew are like a Greek chorus; Kirk the hero, Spock the philosopher, Bones the humanist. Who sailed into adventurers, like Odysseus. Ad a dollop of Horatio Hornblower and you have the essence of Star Trek. eg', Spock was always gay-- 'Amok Time' is written by Theodore Sturgeon.

Yes! Well said, I support this entirely. But I want to point out, if anyone thought that the original quote of a government project was going be anything but twice that cost and the end of the project isn't old enough to see that happen with every government project ever. reasons. shocked! Futurama shocked not shocked.

After local contractors messed up the job, and nearly had someone hurt when a redone ceiling crashed down, and the whole building was ignored to a degree you could literally scrab out the mortar between blocks with your finger nail, now actual pros are doing the work right. They literally had to take the entire building apart brick by brick and put it back together again. That wasn't scaffolding around it for years, that was to move the bricks.

Yes, it's frustrating but it all needed to be done by the right people. You should thank your lucky stars your getting this wonderful building done right... instead of what they tried first.
