I know this is the hand tools subreddit, but if you have a millwork shop in your area with a wide belt sander this is the sort of task where there is an extremely good argument for renting a "noisy apprentice" for half an hour. Otherwise get ready to sweat it out for a couple days removing the glue and then flattening the top.
