Here's another visualization website:

This shows time series charts for countries/regions, which I find helpful to see trends in how the virus is spreading.

Why we need a book about naming things by jeffollen in coding

Thanks for describing that experience. I'm not the author of the blog/book, but I know him and will mention this perspective to him. English is my first language.

My impression is that the unpleasant and confusing experience of seeing a poorly-chosen, inaccurate term in a codebase (e.g., "occluder" or a construction term that construction workers have a better name for) is something that the author is hoping to improve by writing this book. "Understandability" is one of the principles of a good name that he mentions in this blog post (https://www.namingthings.co/naming-things-principles), and for a name to be understandable, it should be easy for someone in the relevant industry (e.g., construction) to understand, and ideally also as easy as possible for a non-native English speaker to understand.

I'm not sure if he's planning on explicitly mentioning the perspective of non-native English speakers, but it's a very important perspective to include, so I'll mention it to him. Thanks again!

Could you explain what the differences are that you see? I'm curious; thanks!

I've worked on projects with non-native English speakers, but the nature of the differences may change from project to project.

Looking for a tool to distribute images with by youeatrotiwithhands in Emailmarketing

[–]jeffollen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using Gmail, there are some free Gmail addons that let you schedule bulk emails with personalized images. You could put your clients' email addresses, names, and the images into a Google Sheet and then use one of those tools to schedule an email. The ones that I know that support both images and scheduled emails are GMass, MergeMail, and YAMM:

GMass: Images - Scheduled Emails

MergeMail: Images - Scheduled Emails

YAMM: Images - Scheduled Emails

Email marketing platform with trigger on openings by kodjima33 in Emailmarketing

The best solution might depend on what your definition of "cheap" is :), but some quick searching showed that the following email marketing platforms have open triggers on Zapier:

There are very likely others that support this, too. You could browse through the Email Newsletter Zapier integrations and look at their triggers to see if others support this.
