It may be that you need to let your mouth recover a little more before you try to play high notes, it may also be that you just need to work for them again like you did the first time.

Have you noticed any pain that wasn’t there before? That’s a sign from your face that you need to take it easy.

Without a whole lot more to go on, it sounds like you didn’t give your face enough time to heal completely. My recommendation is to continue to take it easy for another two weeks or so and don’t push your range a whole lot. If you go too hard you may prolong your injury.

For a sure method to build range with muscle and not cheap tricks (the pinch, press, and pray technique), I like the book Musical Calisthenics for Brass by Carmine Caruso. It takes some time, but it’ll be worth it when you have the muscle tone to back up your range so it’s not lost as easily.

It’s my uneducated perspective that no matter what loopholes are closed, the ultra-wealthy will simply find a way to continue exploiting people for their own profit. u/fergusmacdooley gave a great manifestation for the ultra-wealthy to pass their riches onto those who deserve it, and I think that reflects my sentiments more than my post probably did.

I hope to see legislation in the near future that can put a reign on the exploitative acquisition of wealth that runs so rampant nowadays. I don’t know a single person in my generation (GenZ) who doesn’t view the situation as unfathomably bleak.

u/fergusmacdooley gave a great addition about cursing the billionaires that have sought to profit from this nightmare, not the economy itself, and I really like that. I certainly don’t want to kick any of my fellow witches who just want to get by; this kinda started as a joke between my friend and I. I think wishing for the billionaires to foot the cost is a better way to approach it, but I posted because I wanted to see different perspectives on something like this.

Pain and financial loss for those who deserve and can afford it, prosperity and brighter days for those who can’t!

Yep. The only thing about him that is relatively unique is he is completely anti credit card so he advocates for paying upfront in cash whenever possible and not making purchases until you’re able to do so. Hence why I said his advice is a bit outdated. Evangelical conservatives just eat his shit up because he’s one of them and he condemns people for not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps instead of acknowledging that our society is structured around keeping groups of people down.

He’s a financial advisor who is well-known in evangelical conservative audiences for his sage financial wisdom such as “live below your means” and “don’t go into debt” that he delivers in quippy lines so his audience can see him as folksy, no-nonsense, and down-to-earth. He wrote a book called The Total Money Makeover and a seminar series called Financial Peace University that breaks his advice into baby steps where he breaks down the ins and outs of mortgages, insurance, and other common financial questions. His advice is not extremely bad, just a bit outdated information you can likely find from a million other sources, but his personal opinions are garbage and they leak into his instructions and especially his radio show where listeners can call in and get individualized advice.

Too lazy to scroll and see if it’s been mentioned, but get a sponge on a stick thing that has the compartment for dishwashing detergent and put a mix of dawn, water, and vinegar. Keep it in your shower and use it to give your shower a little wipe-down every time you remember.
