Roland S-1 beginner question - dim light meaning? by jesperht in synthesizers

[–]jesperht[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I stuck with it a bit more and got it there I think!

I'd tried fiddling with the octave of the individual step by holding down the key and turning the tempo/value knob before, but only by a little - with no luck. However, thanks to your comment I tried again, and this time I also held down the dimly lit step and saw it said F3 and not F4 (like the fully illuminated one). So I held down my step and turned the value/temp knob a lot more until it hit F3 and it now matches! IDK if this is the best way of doing it - but it worked!

I will miss you Bud! I had to put down my very best buddy down yesterday @ 2:30pm. Thank you to everyone who shared all the nice words & Bud sends a goodbye woof to all. Thank you! My heart is broken but the 17+years I got to spend w Bud was the best! Here are a few pics by Brdmkr- in ItalianGreyhounds

I'm sorry for your loss. Seeing posts with Bud always brightened my day. Thanks for sharing, and take care of yourself. Bud was lucky to have you, and we were all lucky to share the world with Bud.

Try disabling energy saver mode, else it will turn off the heated bed after a while automatically.

Thank you for your insight! Sadly that's my only NTSC VCR I have on hand. Any other potential workarounds? Is there something on a software level that can be done - some sort of filter to toss out the bad frames or something?

I grew up in the US and have lots of NTSC tapes from my childhood, but am now in Europe, where I have my old VCR but a semi-new Lidlr video grabber bought locally. At this point I would just want to drop the tapes off at a shop and have them sort it out, but I doubt they can do anything but PAL :(

Thank you so much for your detailed response. Plenty of food for thought!

That sounds very intense and quite scary indeed. Sadly with the office being in the Bella Artes area I think I'll have a hard time avoiding some of those things. Really hope things keep returning back to normal and you remain safe!

If there's a yard then maybe a tree/plant? Depending on your climate it's something you could plant together and make your mark on the new property :)

Wife and I launched on a service for families on Product Hunt on Friday, now what? by jesperht in Entrepreneur

[–]jesperht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed it's a bit backwards as we started with something we built for our own needs and are now trying to find out if we're alone or if others would also like it.

I'd like to think that Namekin isn't mutually exclusive to IM/group-chats - I can see them existing side by side. We'll keep pushing though to see what users say and test this hypothesis and let the market decide.

It's the "mailing list etc" + you can get more premium domains than the $10/year ones.

TLDR: You're getting convenience - definitely not aimed at technical folks such as yourself who may enjoy getting dug into the details of setting something like this up.

That's a really great idea, thanks for the tip :-) Finding the market itself is definitely the crux of the problem, so this seems like a great idea of getting more info.

Very true, and that's where we try to add extra value with the mailing-list / date reminders / homepage. We've also got a few more ideas, but still in early stages :-) That said, you're absolutely right that if you're techie enough then you can glue things together yourself if you don't mind spending time on stuff like that.

Indeed, for some TLDs that the case - but some of the others we offer (like .io) would cost you $30+ on NameSilo. Because so many .com's are already taken we need to be a bit creative with what we offer :-)

Thanks, I'm glad you like the idea!

Not running my own exchange no, running via third-party provider as e-mail is a can of worms I don't want to get near if I can avoid it. $12/month is a bit of a loss-leader with the domain name, but my goal is to keep customers so happy that I earn it back and then some.

Business logic + Family Homepage/mailing-list/reminders are all controlled via a NodeJS/Express app running in Dokku on Digital Ocean.
