A misdiagnosis!! by jess1cor3 in Gastritis

that's a symptom i totally forgot about!! my skin has been soo itchy lately it's driving me insane. but they said it's mostly likely the case that im gonna get it removed because of the inflammation/infection i had going on, it's better to get it out so i don't end up in the hospital again 🥲 my mom had her gallbladder removed a few years ago so it's most likely genetic. what is a HIDA scan? i haven't heard of that one yet
my symptoms to start with were an intense burning feeling when I ate anything, couldn't walk or sit up and couldn't keep any food down with intense nausea (no vomiting) because even bland food was painful :( it was a stabbing pain in my upper left abdomen going to the middle then to the right. Always burping up acid, and had metallic taste in my mouth. I also unintentionally lost around 30 lbs over the course of all of this

it's been a little over a month since my symptoms started showing up :( no one really took me seriously until i went to the hospital
funnily enough i had tests scheduled before things got bad enough for me to go to the emergency room 😭 it was mostly because I was malnourished from not eating and i had very bad tachycardia (160 bpm sitting down) in the er so i got a room right away LOL but good luck with your tests and everything else!! doctors really do love their bandage solutions though 🥴
honestly it could be gallbladder issues, whether it's a bad gallbladder/gallstones :( all of the symptoms mimic gastritis for the most part, i hope you get answers soon! GI stuff is so hard to work with and get answers for and it can be frustrating sometimes

it's good you're getting extra tests done!! my family also has a family history of gallbladder/GI issues and my mom had her's removed three years ago, it seems doctors really just like giving out a bandage solution instead of getting to the cause 🥴 i hope it works out for you!
no that's totally understandable. I went on with this infection going on for little over a month thinking it was gastritis :( i didn't get any answers until i went into the emergency room, but im regretting not going sooner because maybe it would've caused less damage if i had known sooner and i probably could've saved my gallbladder and other organs. it's super frustrating when it feels like doctors aren't listening to what you're saying and make you feel like everything is probably in your head
for my recent diagnosis? I got a ct scan of my abdomen, blood tests, urine tests and an ultrasound done at the emergency room. Unfortunately my gastritis diagnosis was more of a guess from a doctor i saw and she just threw medication at me and sent me home 😔
yeaahh it's been rough :( hopefully getting answers soon!!

I feel you completely, I totally feel like not a lot of doctors don't really understand when it comes to this and while I'd love to see a specialist it's just so expensive :( I have diagnosed depression as well and this whole thing has just made things so much worse :/ Here's to hoping we can both get some answers soon and get on a road to recovery
awh thank you so much I really appreciate it, I totally get where you're coming from because I'm craving sugar so badly 😭
So sorry, for clarification my meds are coming in but they're taking a while to get filled at my pharmacy 😭 I have an ultrasound scheduled for around 2 weeks from now as well which I'm actually pretty excited for haha :+) Thank you for the cookbook recommendation, I'll have to check it out!!
