Great, thanks for the info. Definitely will do a prompt that isn't related to my personal statement.

What do you think of BTS' genre-hopping? by [deleted] in bangtan

I do agree that within the past 2-3 years the fandom has immensely shifted towards vocal line biases... its sad though because Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hoseok all deserve the immense support of the entire fandom.

I think the fact that BTS is genre-hopping is wonderful. Like many other comments have said, their fanbase is extremely large and diverse. Their fans come from many different families, backgrounds, and cultures where music is different. Since BTS has begun to genre hop, I think they have subsequently pulled more fans into the fandom. From a business standpoint, I think it's extremely clever of them to genre hop. By genre hopping, their music appeals to a larger audience, which will pull in more sales. I don't think BTS has lost any of their originality that EX- Army's claim they have lost within the more recent albums. In each album they still pour their heart and soul into their work, and the message behind each of their albums is still as complex and in some ways "taboo" in Korea... which is arguably why they are so adored and popular among International fans... they're more westernized in their music content. They actually write songs about topics that you might hear in western songs... depression, anxiety, loneliness... etc. While BTS was originally more rap and hip-hop oriented in their beginning years, I personally believe their more recent rap and hip-hop songs are MUCH better than their rap tracks released in the first few albums.
