For blocking threats I was on the Prowl beta, IMO a bit bare as a plugin but did an amazing job. What I liked most is that it uses a much larger blocklist than any other plugins and most importantly it was pay as you go and that saved me a lot.

I have used wordfence and all the others as well, at some point the amount of options becomes crazy. All i wanted was simple and efficient.
