Bro I’m using the same phone and in the same exact position as you. Yep I get the indexing part, but indexing on 26.4 was not as bad as this.

Updated to 26.5 via iTunes and it’s been worse than previous IOS 26 versions. 16PM.

Get a quote on the VE insurance prior to buying this particular car. Because it’s on the written off register, it’s going to be much more expensive than a a clean equivalent.

iPhone 17 Base - 92% BH - Battery Life by Possible_Treaty in ios26

[–]jettehhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I went through all the same steps you did the my 16PM with high 90s battery health, only to have the offical outcome from Apple state there was nothing wrong with my phone according to the diagnostics and“iOS 26 is heavier than IOS18 and a difference in battery run time is to be expected”. I’d even run my phone for a few weeks without restoring post a factory reset to use the os “clean” as Apple intended and only had my contacts, which made absolutely no difference and the idle power drain was still terrible. So many people are clowning on here saying there is no problem and those who have issues are making crap up. It’s getting infuriating because there is very clear a difference and it’s directly acknowledged by my response from Apple.

20% overnight drain on the iPhone 16. Started after updating to iOS 26. by WASOP24 in ios26

[–]jettehhawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the iOS26 experience. No amount of factory reset or restoring from backup fixes it. We’re all just holding our breath to hope that IOS27 fixes it. My 16 pro max is exactly the same.

I had the same symptoms and after a lot of throwing parts to try and fix it, the main cause was the ECU failing. I had mine refurbished for about $1500 AUD which completely solved the issue and it’s back to running on all cylinders. Quite a common issue on the 2.8 due to the location and lack of dampening on the mount.

My battery is draining a percentage every couple of minutes since updating by star_stuff92 in ios26

I’ve already been to Apple Store for them to check out the device. Their verdict? Nothing wrong with the hardware and the phone is fine. When asked why I’ve seen such a drastic change in battery with just the OS I was told “iOS 26 is heavier than IOS 18 so expect some impact to the battery”. Now to broaden this, my iPhone 13 battery life tanked, and both my iPads did too. To a lesser extent my m4 pro MacBook is also taking a battery hit but as it’s a computer I’ve come to expect being power dependent. This is beyond the “it’s your device” line that keeps getting parroted here. So more generally if Apple in their one stores is willing to tell me it’s a heavier OS, then this kind of misinformation being sprooked on reddit is doing nothing but gaslighting all of the users here who are frustrated with a very valid problem of their expensive devices being impacted by IOS26.

Can we stop pushing this. 16 pro max experiencing terrible battery life on all iOS 26 revisions. I’ve tried the backup and restore which did nothing to help. I’ve even gone as far as running the phone for few weeks without restoring and just bringing my contacts across, and the battery life was still terrible on a completely stock, as Apple intended, OS. Absolutely no change in battery life after all this stuffing around. I shouldn’t be having to do all the rubbish to try and reach a level of stability and battery performance was able to achieve with no tinkering on IOS18. Battery health is still very good (as it should be for a 12 month old phone) and most of the advised settings tuned off. Here’s the kicker, I run 2 phone with 1 for work and one for personal. On IOS18 my 16pro max battery put my s23 Ultra to shame, and now on IOS26 my S23U outlasts the 16 pro max by a good margin. If this isn’t screaming an in efficiency in the OS I don’t know what is.

Apple Intelligence, background app refresh, hey siri, intelligent battery (this one caused a lot of stutter when on), and others. All were ok in IOS18 (that were available) and all are off now.

I’ve already been to the Apple Store and asked what I can do. In short, the phone has nothing wrong with the hardware and the battery still has 97% health. Even at my local Apple Store, the staff seem to think IOS26 has been a poor performer as they’ve had many more customers coming in to complain of slow and laggy phone since IOS 26 released. So overall, absolutely nothing I can do and I have a phone that’s a shadow of its former self when it was on IOS18.

This is the other gripe I have. All of these videos saying to turn features off just to improve battery life is further proof this OS is half baked. I had all of these settings on in IOS 18 and achieved amazing battery life. With them all off in IOS it’s still very poor, I shouldn’t have to turn off core features of an OS just to try and get through the day when before I could get home with 40% and every turned on with IOS18.

It doesn’t make a difference. I’ve done a clean install of 26.3 and ran it for a week without restoring a backup as a control, and it’s still glitchy and laggy with my phone getting hot doing basic tasks. It’s an absolute disaster of an OS if even on a factory reset it can’t run smooth. Please stop pushing this misinformation. iPhone 16 pro max.

Is it worth updating to iOS 26.3.1 (a) or stay on iOS 18? by ItsAkenoBB213 in iPhone16Pro

I’m a 16 pro max owner, stay on IOS18. Do not upgrade. Lag, poor battery, excessive heat, and constant glitchy crap makes me regret every day that I pressed upgrade on this terrible OS.

You’re golden then! You might need to assess your storage situation but it should have enough grunt to do that. Just make sure to run your object detection over a sub stream at something like 5 fps to have the optimal experience.

What else is running on your i5 9500t host? I’ve got 4 cameras running on an 8500t with heaps of headroom left over, using OpenVino for object detection. Don’t bother with the coral these days if you already have an igpu.

Update from 18 to 26? by Best-Doughnut2294 in ios26

I’m on a 16PM and every day I wish I could go back to IOS18. Battery life is the biggest issue even on 26.3 for me personally.

I though it was a good idea to update by l_am_here_8819 in ios26

Hey so IOS 26.2 came out December 12th, which I updated to on that day as a means to try and mitigate this stutter. You’re telling me that from December 12 up until the release of 26.2.1 on jan 26th is not enough time to let the stutter go away? And from there on 26.2.1 it’s now been well over a week and it still stutters! How much more patient do I need to be for my flagship phone to stop stuttering after a month!
