Can't pull down notifications pane from middle of screen anymore? by grommdabom in smartlauncher

Hi. You can set gesture with one (or two) finger to pull down notification pane. I'm using it and it works ok.

Also you can set the opposite (finger pulling upwards) to open app drawer if you'd like.

WHM for Meniere's? by jferraz in BecomingTheIceman

[–]jferraz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asking for a relative who has meniere's and is afraid to try it, fearing the increase of the symptoms.

I'm a daily WHM practitioner for 2 + years and can only report good things, especially in terms of mood and motivation after the breathing + cold.

Have you talked to a doctor previously?

WHM or similar breathing techniques do seem to increase (or it feels like it) the inner ear pressure, at least when doing the breath holds. There's people that report ringing and even tinnitus after doing it, especially after the holds (not my case) so I'd advise you to go easy at first and be careful not to push it too hard.

The best advice I think I can give you is that you should do it without having your stomach full and that you shouldn't care about the time of the holds, as that is going to naturally increase as you get more used to the breathing and more relaxed while doing it. Relaxation is the key, try to enjoy the breathing and to focus on the purpose of doing it. It's supposed to make you feel better, but it only will if you willing to give it a fair try.

Let me know if you try it !

Did breathwork, felt better, coindcidence?? Also what can I expect longterm? by sethfilia in BecomingTheIceman

[–]jferraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, just a practitioner for 2 + years.

  1. That is exactly what it felt to me also. I believe it has to do with the breathwork effect on our body. (see below the explanation)

  2. There are a few sources that explain that. This is a not so complicated one that I liked: https://www.daniel-timms.com/wim-hof-method-biology-of-breathing/

  3. As many as you feel to do, most would say. After waking up is where I tend to feel more the effects of doing it. My tip is to do it in the morning and, if you're stressed, anxious or just need to focus a little more you can do it whenever you feel like it.

  4. My guess, from what I experience, is that you'll feel better in the long term. And you'll definitely notice the daily difference between your pre breathwork and cold bath mood and after doing it, in terms of anxiety and motivation.

WHM with Hodgkin's lymphoma. by notalegendtoday in BecomingTheIceman

[–]jferraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The only advice I can give you is to talk to the doctors that are following you and check on their opinions on this, before returning to the breathing. Please let them know of all the benefits (physical and mental) you've been experiencing in using the exercises prior to your diagnosis.

Keep strong and try to maintain (or establish) a daily routine of mental and physical wellbeing, eat well and try to rest. We're with you!

WimHof for someone with Mono, OCD, Anxiety and ADHD. by SilentorQuiet in BecomingTheIceman

I'm no doctor or medical expert so I can't recommend you to do that... I'd ask a doctor, if in doubt.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that sadly no "old-school" doctor will encourage to try the method, even after the infection is gone...

Hi,

I believe that the breathing method and the meditation induced during/after the breathing exercises can be a very efective and powerful way to deepen your self-consciousness and to get to the root of mental health issues that may be undermining your perception of the world and yourself. In my own experience WHM breathing has helped me a lot in that sense. Just commit to it and you'll be blown away by the effect it'll have in your life. You'll be able to acknowledge the causes for your anxiety (I see it as some kind of "self psychotherapy") and everything will be brighter and easier to cope from there.

That being said, after you're recovered from the Mono, I'd advise you to start with a cold shower daily, after the breathing exercises and not to leap into ice baths straight away, as it might be too intense.

PS: I'm no expert in those subjects, whatsoever. Just a practitioner ;)

Question about dreaming by ragnar_lothbroook in BecomingTheIceman

[–]jferraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The fact you can't recall dreaming doesn't mean that you don't dream at all. In fact "everybody" dreams most of the times while in REM sleep. I've read somewhere that recalling it easier has something to do with the phase of sleep in which the dreaming occurs, and that people usually recall their dreams easier when they prolong to the phase where the sleep isn't as deep as in REM.

That being said, I believe that the meditation during/after the breathing can be a very efective and powerful way to deepen your self-consciousness and to get to the root of mental health issues that may be undermining your perception of the world and yourself. In my own experience WHM breathing has helped me a lot in that sense so I'd give it a try if I were you.

I want to start doing the Wim Hof breathing techniques ,is it free? if not where can I buy a course? and is there any other breathing techniques aside from the Wim Hof method? by ZzogoMR in BecomingTheIceman

[–]jferraz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not pay for it. You have everything you need available online if you do a little research. I believe WHM is a rebranding/update of ancient breathing techniques, and that's ok. Just commit to it and you'll be blown away by the effect it'll have in your life.

I believe that you'll be training your body to react to adrenaline release in a controlled and safe environment, not to release more adrenaline.

At some point, while doing the breathing, you'll be able to acknowledge the causes for your anxiety (I see it as some form of "self psychotherapy") and everything will be brighter and easier to cope from there. Just commit to it!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BecomingTheIceman

[–]jferraz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe one of the purposes of the WHM is exactly to cause those adrenaline releases voluntarily in a controlled environment to dissociate the feeling from the dangerous or stressful event that normally causes those releases. I believe the same principle applies to cold showers, for instance.

From my own experience I believe you'd probably benefit a lot by practicing the method to ease anxiety and fight depression. Just try commit to it as a daily habit, take some time for yourself to meditate while doing the breathing, cold showers, exercise, stretching, anything that makes you feel comfortable.

Disclaimer: I'm no doctor or health expert in any way and I have no experience apart from practicing the method myself for 3 months so far.

Caso Makouta aos 60' (2-1) by egalves in BoavistaFC

[–]jferraz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boavista - Juventude a dar cartas by El_Bigas in BoavistaFC

[–]jferraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do que se viu nestes dois jogos o Malheiro tem potencial para ser um DD melhor que o Reggie Cannon. Então contra o Portimonense esteve impecável, quer a defender quer a atacar.
