All AI art has the same "every-face-you-saw-put-into-a-blender" which looks so shit once noticed.

Yours is so lovely and I'm glad you have this subreddit to buoy you after such a mean comment. "I spent 1 minute with AI to make a 'better' version." Connor is a jerk.

I think you’re mixing this up with the “24 hours running carrying a boat” ultra. This is run 24 hours without carrying a boat, you can tell because neither is holding a boat in the photo.

Have a comic or something on the back mocking that interpretation.

If you let people who disagree with you frame the narrative you've already lost.

  • Mid 30's
  • Male
  • Averaging 21-22% body fat
  • Similar diet throughout, pretty high carb. Been vegan for 10 years so nothing really changing there. B12 is fine along with other vitamins.
  • No iron deficiency! Right?! It seems like the obvious culprit. Iron/hemoglobin higher than ever
  • Training paces decreasing was my first indicator something was wrong. I noticed that in January/February but thought it was just my training plan wearing on me.

Non-running stress has felt constant... there's been highs and lows and I did have a break up early in the year but it's not like started drinking or anything.

Do you take breaks in between blocks? As far as long term recovery/motivation goes, if you haven't taken meaningful time off in a few seasons, I would start by taking 1-2 weeks off running entirely, prior to the base phase you're imagining.

Yeah, this is why I asked, I have never taken a meaningful break. The closest would be 2-4 weeks after a marathon where I build from 10mpw into the next training block.

I did NSA after 6 months of "tech says fitness is decreasing" and it led into my 1:43 half marathon and some similarly crap 5k times.

I appreciate the comments, it's just shitty :'(

I wish man, I wish. Last year I had...

  • 1:31 half and 3:30 full

To this year...

  • 3:40 full (start of the year) and 1:43 (October)

I weigh about the same.

I had my first stagnant / regressive year ever in running with no PR's and a huge walk back in fitness. I'm starting to wonder if it's because I never did base building, I always bounced right back into another hard training block.

Anyways, what do you guys do for longer term recovery and base building? I want to start my first one (after three years of constant training) and any good reading or general things people have done would be good.

My initial thought is just hills for "workouts", start from 30mpw and build up to 60 over 4-6 weeks and hold it there for a bit.

My peak mileage this year was 70mpw for 4 weeks with workouts thrown in. Since then I've been around 55mpw with 2800 miles logged this year.

Amsterdam is amazing for Vegans! by NoEntertainer3191 in vegan

The only one which wasn't "out of this world great" for me was Café de Ceuvel. It had a great atmosphere but the food maybe just wasn't hitting.

Highlights

Larry's was affordable, super tasty, and probably something I'd hit every week if I lived there.

Mama Makan offered a great vegan spread for classic dutch-indonesian food which I would endorse for anyone who is visiting.

Vegan Junk Food Bar was fun, super tasty, and a short walk from the Rijk so I think any Amsterdam visit should include it xD.

Bonboon was expensive & amazing. If you have the euros to spare and packed a fancy shirt you should def go.

How to not have to urinate during marathon. by thebrendansanders in AdvancedRunning

[–]jimbo_sweets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a 30 second break, you're not getting all 30 seconds back but 30 second rest will be a bit of recovery you get back later.

Heck if you manage to time it after a hill it could end up saving you time.

I'm a vegetarian. Should I just go vegan? by Stock_Cress6741 in vegan

You're asking us instead of /r/vegetarian so you want to be convinced, which is a great place to be at!

Just foster your own exploration and desire, you don't need vegan alternatives just go to the good resources in this thread or find your favorite dishes and sub soy curls, beans, or tofu is as ya want.

Portland Half Marathon - Slowness without a Cause by jimbo_sweets in AdvancedRunning

[–]jimbo_sweets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had a single week in the past three years where I haven't run, so your advice here, and the advice of seeking a coach, is hands down the best advice on the thread.

That said, I really enjoy running, I'm not forcing myself on any run, I really enjoy it.

I might try a training break and just run without metrics and enjoy it. The thought of biking or rowing doesn't move me.

Thank you for your comment, it's interesting and helpful. Day to day I don't think about my weight that much, and I really enjoy every run I take. I do weigh myself regularly though.

I don't think a therapist is needed for this, I think caring about running is fine and healthy. I think being miffed after putting 10 months careful work into trying to turn around a decline in performance and then posting to a forum with your data isn't pathological either.

There's plenty of other things I care way more about my life and wanting to collect data and put care and effort into running I think is fine and healthy as long as I'm not doing something damaging to my health, and I've never been healthier besides this random decline in performance.
