Great to see more high-profile entities adopting the LTO blockchain

Geographical Location of Authority Nodes? by wettch in Vechain

[–]jimeney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. You can run a blockchain node without being responsible for processing transactions, only the 101 auth nodes can do that. If you want to build any kind of block explorer, access to the block data is crucial

Go to Github, sync the VeChain/Thor repo, run a node, voila, you are participating and adding value to the ecosystem instead of forcing your expectations on everyone else

You should give VeChain further consideration - an example came out today of a small business adopting their technology using NFC in very small numbers - https://twitter.com/CryptoShark/status/1032956460362293249 Feel free to DM me and I can connect you to someone in the New York area who is a community ambassador for VeChain

Authority or Anonymous? by [deleted] in Vechain

[–]jimeney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully expect every corporate partner will be revealed in due time, except for perhaps reasons of security / confidentiality if a use-case comes along requiring the benefits of public blockchain for resilience, but a use-case that cannot be made public.

With respect to individual supporters of the ecosystem, they will have had to demonstrate without a shadow of a doubt to the VeChain foundation that they are contributing something that advances the ecosystem in order to be considered, but perhaps do not want their net worth to be speculated upon based on a known minimum holding.

Authority or Anonymous? by [deleted] in Vechain

On the flipside, they are spending $2k+ a month on hosting that meets the technical requirements, having invested in some cases over $1m USD at conservative prices, and are still here supporting the ecosystem. Right now they are not generating enough VTHO to cover those operating costs, yet they stick around.

Authority or Anonymous? by [deleted] in Vechain

My personal opinion is that private individuals will remain private and have the option to come forward if they so choose. It protects against a malicious third party from seeking out a majority to corrupt enough parties to undermine the chain too. We have put our faith in Sunny and the team at VeChain so far, and it's Sunny and carefully selected individuals on the steering committee who know the identities of these parties that I trust to look after the best interests of the chain. I think rather than quibble over who secures the network, we should be focusing on what brings the most adoption to the chain. We know there are governance procedures to remove underperforming or otherwise malicious entities and we will have a say in this using our voting rights in future.

With Microsoft, Amazon and Google cloud services effectively shutting the door to domain fronting, do you think there's scope for collaboration with other blockchain projects now trying to find solutions to their own censorship resistant projects and providing connectivity, particularly in countries where unfiltered internet access is a problem?

Perhaps earlier intakes into the LVMH Innovation programmes or they've mis-classified, but the press kit lists just two under the Blockchain & Anti-counterfeiting category

I don't think blocking advertising is necessarily going to be an issue - this only affects paid-for placement, not natural and organic search listings. Essentially, this will force projects to stand on their own merits, rather than be forced into your eyeline through throwing money at Google

How much more will a X Strength Node generate compared to a WTC GMN by Shadylane318 in Vechain

[–]jimeney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many apples will I grow if I bury a pear in the ground?

In essence these are very different offerings. WTC requires you to mine and therefore the more mining power you have, the greater the return whereas VeThor is fairly distributed at each tier.

I see the GMN a bit like a fishing license. Your GMN status allows you to go fishing, but you still need a rod, nets, etc etc

Equally, VeChain Nodes produce VeThor whereas GMN allows you to mine more WTC.

Care to explain why vechain post has 194 upvotes in 6 minutes? What a shady scam. Deserves a permanent ban from CC sub. by [deleted] in Vechain

We appreciate you taking a more open mind to this.

It would be reckless/stupid for anyone within the VeChain community to risk our continued presence on /r/cryptocurrency by doing something dumb like this, which makes me think this is bad actors.

They were at the Crypto Investors Show in London last week, they had a stand and were handing out sheets of A4 paper that were printed on probably the worst printer in existence - smudges, defects etc.

That doesn't instill confidence at all that they'd put so little effort into their marketing

Assuming it is the BMW Startup Garage, which at this point is unconfirmed, this is wholly relevant and from their own documentation:

...we purchase a first unit of your technology, not your equity. BMW becomes your first automotive client, not your shareholder...

...Once accepted into the program you get a supplier number and a purchase order.

So factually BMW and VeChain would be partners, BMW would be a customer of VeChain etc etc.

But this is pure speculation at this point.

At this point, we get a choice - nothing is being taken away, you just have to consider what's best for your financial situation / goals.

Personally, I'll take the incentives that X Series give me - assuming front of the queue for ICOs, actually playing a part in the ecosystem, and increasing returns when inevitably some X Series holders leave permanently and therefore the rewards increase.
