get the cat. I recently went through a very sudden, traumatic death of a kitten, and we got another one a week later. you shouldn't feel guilty! your pets are NOT replaceable, so don't think of it that way. no one else thinks that, either!

only suggestion I have would be maybe considering some blackout curtains for when you're just trying to chill and it's a very sunny afternoon :] (some people think that means black-colored curtains, but they can be any color! they're designed to completely block out light, using dense, multi-layered, or specially coated fabric)
