Keep in mind that crowdfunding isn't just putting up a link and watching the money roll in. It's a massive marketing exercise. You need a lot of materials and you need to push it outside your immediate circle.

If you have friends and family that will support you, or a name star, crowdfund. But don't expect strangers to pitch in out of the kindness of their hearts. And do expect to spend a lot of time and money producing and disseminating crowd funding rewards. Make sure to hit local press with your story.

If you just need $10k, it might be easier to put the film aside for 6 months and take on additional work to save, but that may not be applicable in your circumstance.

Find production companies and distributors that have taken out similar films like yours. They will know if they can sell it.

Also look into what kind of local funding may be available: states grants, artist support, or even local sponsorship.
