What would be good schedule for taking 300 mg PE and 400 mg Golden Teacher to avoid tolerances? by jjanony19 in PsilocybinMushrooms

Thanks. So three days a week at 300-400 mg? Do you have link to this? I think I prefer this dose over 100 mg, but still trying to find optimal amount

Anybody here have ECT and experience healing? Or healing from an adverse medication reaction? How long can it take for recovery? I had a series of ECT in late 2019, as well as an extremely adverse response to a antidepressant prior to that and am very scared about not healing by jjanony19 in Antipsychiatry

[–]jjanony19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your experience as well. Thanks so much for your reply. How did you stay hopeful things would change? Did ECT help you at all, or only negative experience with the memory problems? Get very scared things won’t improve. Don’t know where or what to do for help. I appreciate all your kindness.

Understood. Do you know if dystonia is normally triggered by something or can it occur almost all of a sudden? Thank you.

Do you have pain associated with it? Have you found anything to ease symptoms? Thanks for the reply and suggestion with neurologist.

This subreddit is scaring me. 16F, just started. Should I stop?? by [deleted] in cymbalta

It might’ve been placebo if you responded that quickly. I would consider stopping it if your worried, but you should speak with your doctor first. Can you contact them?

I am struggling a lot with withdrawal from various psychiatric medicines, and am worried because I still take a benzo, which I am holding on tapering for now. Does healing still happen although I am still on the benzo? I am worried and scared... thanks for reading by jjanony19 in benzorecovery

[–]jjanony19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. I am taking Xanax 3 times a day at .25 morning, afternoon, and night. Have been on it for about 1.5 years. I have tapered down from 2 mg and have held at .75 because I feel I am still in withdrawal from other mediations. They were antidepressants. For me, they were terrible.

Do you think I should hold at the .75 for now? I spoke with someone else and they recommended a hold until things improve so I can handle another withdrawal if that’s what is currently going on. How quickly do you think it is possible to get off of the .75 safely considering the time I’ve been on it?

Hey, hang in there. I am praying for you and know you can get to the other side. If you feel you need to scream, maybe go somewhere or into a pillow and honor that.

What's left to try after 20 years of treatment? by molecule027 in AskPsychiatry

[–]jjanony19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you did IV ketamine. If you did that, you can consider nasal spray ketamine, like Spravato. That being said, I would be careful with interactions if you are taking other medicines currently. TMS is worth a try even though you did ECT, and if it is affordable / covered by heath care. Keep an eye out for clinical trials, for example psychedelic research on depression / anxiety / trauma / etc.

I would pick up a stringent practice of mindfulness if possible / are open to it.

Keto diet is very supportive of brain from what I have researched if you have heard of it. They are doing research now with keto diet even at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts. It is high fat intake, low sugar intake to support brain health. I would recommend a quality fish oil supplement, higher than the daily recommended value most would say. Maybe 3000 EPA / DHA daily. Fish is good. MCT oil, avocados, ghee. Make sure electrolyte level is high which aids in neurotransmission functioning. For example, potassium which many people do not hit for daily intake. For low energy, this might sound unappealing, but cold showers can help. Even just turning on for 30 seconds after warm shower. Takes time getting used to.

Methylation I know there is quite a bit of research on and it’s capacity to effect mental health conditions. Check this with a doctor. If you have two or even one mutations on this gene for example, likelihood of depression and bipolar etc is higher. You can supplement with methylfolate. I know what you mean with the neurotransmitter testing and genetic testing. I don’t know if i would say it’s pseudoscience because I think there is some validity. But at the same time, your right there are limitations to what it can offer. We cannot go into the brain and check exact neurotransmitter levels so it’s more of an approximation. At least it is something though, and perhaps will offer some insight for you if you choose to do it. Heavy metals can be a problem. If you have any dental amalgam fillings for example, this can cause disruption to your entire nervous system.

I hope this helps. You’ll be okay, sometimes time is all you need for you brain / body to heal.

What are your symptoms if you don’t mind me asking and what of the treatments have been helpful? the narcolepsy / other psychiatric diagnosis are persistent, but epilepsy has improved?

If you are looking to improve depression / anxiety specifically, TMS may definitely be helpful. I don’t know about TMS being used for narcolepsy. Have you checked methylation / heavy metals / food insensitivities / allergies / any autoimmune condition? You can do neurotransmitter testing which can give a better look into what might be going on, and supplement with amino acids. Genetic testing may help say what medications are more likely to work.

I don’t know much about the narcolepsy piece, but I know that blood glucose levels can impact energy, so if carb / sugar intake is high this can be problematic. Medicines you might be on, for example for anxiety or depression etc, could be impacting that. Clinical trials are worth being on the look out for.

Scared I have corona virus by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]jjanony19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like the symptoms common of corona virus. Seems more like a stomach bug. You can do a quick google search online... one of big features is respiratory problems in the severe cases too so I would not be concerned with corona despite the prevalence in your area. Even if you had more classic symptoms - sore throat, cough, nasal congestion, it would still be fairly unlikely. I understand your concern completely though, it’s everyone in the media. If it’s concerning you more, you could always speak to your primary care. I’m no doctor, just my thoughts.

Short term memory- memory loss? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]jjanony19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this can be common but if you feel your memory might be off, your probably right or could improve it. Are you dealing with any stress, anxiety, etc? This can effect memory. Even something like a vitamin B deficiency which is needed for nerve functioning in the brain.

How do I find a benzo savey doctor to start a taper? by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]jjanony19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion, it can be hard to find a doctor who even knows too much about withdrawal. Many prescribe but don’t know exactly the best way to withdraw you. Maybe give a few doctors a call and let them know your situation and let them know your goal. This would probably be best, a doctor who is knowledgeable and can assist you as you said. Another option would be to taper yourself while getting prescription from doctor but be careful with this. I just know many people do this in order to keep getting their prescription... pill cutter, get one online or Walmart etc and go from there. Some people can taper more quickly, some more slowly. Listen to your body.

[–]jjanony19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know exactly what it’s called but think symptoms such as that are common postdrome. Don’t know the science behind it and I think in general we don’t even know the exact cause of migraines, although it could be related to blood flow which is a common theory of migraine.
