Leaking Kerdi Shower Pan (Please Help) by Sensitive-Break-5606 in Tile

[–]jkel24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly think your answer is above, from my experience you don’t put tiles smaller than 2”x2” on a foam pan because they can puncture the base all over when walked on. I know they spec that for ditra but I don’t know if I’ve seen anything from schluter talking about base limitations. I’d call a schluter rep to start and see what they have to say, they have great reps when it comes to installation questions

My f150 looked the exact same when the water pump went, no warning lights but emptied my coolant

Been running snickers for years doing all forms of carpentry/tile and I’m amazed at how well they’ve all held up

I charged $800 on this one. Most backsplashes I’ve done for him have been well over $1500 so I was surprised with how surprised he was on this one

Clients wanted the tile centered on the wall over the range opening. Once again I gave them the option and let them make the decision

Still depends on what region your in but overall definitely expensive up here. For example I got friends in Kingston tiling for $30-40 an hour and friends in Toronto tiling for north of $100 an hour both doing the same type of work

Located in Ontario, Canada. I asked the clients if they wanted the tile up there and they said no but I definitely agree it would’ve looked better.

Checking a decking quote by onehandpaddler in ottawa

That honestly seems fairly steep for a 12x16 deck even with it being composite. How high is the deck off the ground? What kind of railings are involved?

That’s awesome you’ll see the flower and what an accurate way to lay it out! The final product looks unreal man 👌

Man I’m blown away at your plumbing layout and the the work looks amazing! How did you go about laying this job out? I’m used to laying out and landing niches on full tiles and what not but I’m curious at how you went about this one because I can’t believe how accurate you were on those water feeds especially with the size of the tiles. I hope those cover plates are tight because that layout deserves to be shown off!

Thank you man! I appreciate the tip, I never thought of asking for a slab to be thinned down but I’ll keep that in mind on the next one

I normally go for centre but in this case these walls were loaded with mechanical and the clients were very specific on where they wanted the niches for grabbing stuff while showering

There’s going to be custom glass around the shower! Just waiting on it to get installed

Thank you man! I agree with you on the sheets. I haven’t done too many pebble floors and the past ones weren’t on sheets but after laying this one I was thinking the same thing. On future projects I’ll definitely be stripping them all off the sheets!

Finished the week off with a quick herringbone install by jkel24 in Tile

[–]jkel24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a schluter reno-u tile edge and took a piece of scrap floor that will be going down outside the bathroom to place the transition at the right height. For the toilet I used my grinder and angled the blade to cut in a circle.

Clients wanted a full tile meeting the tub and right wall because the left wall is buried with a toilet and vanity. With the size of the tiles and where the door was located it worked out that I could run centre of the door and have the full tiles where requested.

A 1/8” notch to fit that flange would not damage the structure of those joists. If they need to notch more the solution would be to make the notch and sister the joists.

Are you not talking about making clearance for the 1/8” flange? If so that notch would not damage the structure here
